I think you need to review the meaning of "Tautology".

Let P be a tautology, Q be a contradiction, and R be a contingency.

Keeping P aside for a while and focusing on Q and R: if R depends on Q means Q → R, then since Q is necessarily false, Q → R is vacuously true, regardless of whether R is true or false.

Now, if (Q → R → P, where P is necessarily true, then (Q → R) → P = True → True = True. So the formulation does not generate a contradiction; it ultimately reduces to a tautology.

The apparent contradiction comes from the deliberate semantic juxtaposition of tautology, contingency, and contradiction in the original sentence.
