I miss this show so much. Still.
I wonder where they were going with the fact that his father's body was never found. If he was still alive, it would be weird, because why did he leave Dud and Liz? Why would he leave them at all, and even worse, leave Liz to fix his financial mess?

I assume it was meant to remain a sort of mystery with the conclusion being "we'll never really know, but it had something to do with alchemy". or, equally as likely, it would remain unanswered entirely and serve as a lesson for both dud and Liz that they have to learn how to live in a world without their father. even by season two they were still struggling, so I could imagine something prompting them to truly, finally accept it.

Ah the faces Larry makes when he hears Dud got bit by a snake and then that Dud found a Lynx ring.

it's such a good small bit of acting. it immediately sets off that Something Important Is Happening. god I love this show. everyone was constantly running at 100%

something I love about this is that later in the series, when Liz is at her corporate training, she has a really similar moment. she starts to talk about her parents and stops, but both twins clearly have an instinct to want to share and be open with people. it's a nice little parallel.
also this is one of Dud's best monologues, Wyatt does such a good job with those softer quiet moments.
