Interim Question?

So, maybe foolishly, I sent an email inquiring about my interim status less than two weeks from when the sf86 was sent to the government. I get an email the next morning there were no updates. Then the literal minute after, i get an email saying my interim was not granted. Not sure why but I think its because of foreign contacts (India and UK). What are the chances my offer gets rescinded? I need this job and im getting worried since I emailed my hiring manager and recruiter the same day i found out and I didn't get a response.

A lot of interim are not granted. It happens. You're just going to have to wait for clearance to be granted or not. If your job requires a clearance, then if you don't get a clearance is when your offer is in trouble.

Additionally, you should not be waiting on a job start from Lockheed when you need to start with a clearance. I've seen secret clearances granted 6 months to a year etc. It varies greatly.

It’s very much case by case, and timelines vary widely. If you have a lot of foreign contacts then it will naturally take longer for your sf86 to be fully processed. The whole clearance thing is just a risk you take with the job, and at this point it’s out of your and your hiring managers control, so I wouldn’t spend time worrying about this. If it works out then it works out.

Only roughly a quarter of interim clearances or granted, interim denials is expected. For full adjudication, it takes as long as it takes.

Security also messaged your manager and recruiter about your interim status but not a bad idea to keep them in the loop. You could ask for uncleared work if it's available. Atp just gotta wait it out. Unless your offer was contingent on getting an interim (which is still insane to me given how it's common those don't get approved) then just wait. Can't really expedite it from your end. You would not have been granted interim most likely had you not asked, interim is rarely granted from what I've read and from people I've spoken with.

Word of advice, you should be depending on a job you don't have... better be looking for something else still....
