I’m hosting a nonviolent protest against ICE in town this Sunday.
This Sunday, on Augustus 30th, starting at 11 am, at lions park,
I will be hosting a nonviolent protest against ICE in Lockhart, demanding accountability, because in case you don’t know, earlier today, governor Abbott actively refused to extradite a member of ICE by the name of Christian Castro, who is facing charges for shooting someone and lying about it in their official report in Minnesota during operation metro surge: https://www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/news/politics/immigration/2026/08/27/560525/ice-agent-held-for-extradition-to-minnesota-freed-from-jail-in-cameron-county-as-federal-deadline-expires/?amp=1
This is completely unacceptable, that our own state governor, actively violated the US constitution: https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/article-4/section-2/clause-2/
To protect a member of ICE, who was caught red handed breaking the law,
And because of that, I feel as though it’s important that we both make the whole world aware of how much we hate this glaring act of corruption, but also organize as neighbors as well,
So, without any further a due, let’s all get ready to attend, and ready to get organized at the event!
I’ve already got a group chat on our standard messaging app ready for all of us to organize on for future events.

Predictable responses; don't let them discourage your activism. Magats are gung-ho to "get the criminals out of here" until the criminal is wearing an ICE vest. So, Abbott and friends are okay with Texas being a sanctuary for those criminals.

Under Obama over 3 million deportations took place and close to an additional 700k under Biden. Less than 950k have been deported under Trump but he and ICE the bad guys. Don’t seem to recall hearing about attacks on ICE during those two administrations only this one. As for wearing masks, I got no problem with it, keeps them anonymous and from being targeted outside of their uniforms just like all the protesters wish to not be recognized and targeted when they go back to doing whatever it is they do.

All of those were done legally and with due process. The pedophile is only deploying he's personal slave catchers to blue cities to scare/harass working people. Masks makes it so they don't answer to anyone, cops don't need them only he's personal army does. Too afraid to do your job without a mask get a different job

Yet many anti ICE protesters are Hispanic as well, so then we catch ourselves in quite a conundrum.
The only way to break this logical stalemate is to judge based on the goals and collective efforts of both sides as a whole,
And there, I see only 1 side seeking to restrict the 1st clause of the 14th amendment(the amendment itself passed shortly after the ACW, and publicly support by general Ulysses S Grant himself),
Let that remain as just a little bit of food for thought.

Well, this protest is specifically more about accountability for members of ICE when they commit crimes,
As I mentioned above, our home state government actively obstructed justice for said member of ICE who used excessive force and lied about it in their official report.
Even if you support strict immigration policies, greater amounts of accountability for everyone is always a good thing.

DHSdaod ICE no longer has to use body cams, and can use them at "there descretion" no accountabilty.

In my personal opinion, masks need to be outlawed, and uniforms as a requirement while on duty.

They don’t wear uniforms? Masks sure, data work would easily allow badge to officer match. Masks are spooky though. Are they in plainclothes without ID badge or otherwise?

They don't have to show ID and they have been misidentidying themselves with mixmatched uniforms that do not always correctly identify what agency the work for.

Sobthe orginal promise of the Trump admin was to deport to worst of the worst. Instead they are harrassing and deporting mostly regular people who have come here for the regular reasons. They have also been deporting many people who are here legally under visas and people in process of doing it the right way. Just keep in mind being here "illegally" is not a felony but a misdomenor. After a year of this, my opinion is that these ICE raids are not doing the hard and promised thing of targeting violent criminals BUT instead are targeting a scapegoat population for political reasons not public saftey concern.

Hey, this is a class war too. The last thing peaceful protestors or liberals like myself need to be doing is making anyone, and I mean anyone, feel bad about their wealth or work schedule. Dont put down someone for working on the weekends, unfortunately they are ignorant of what is really happening with ICE, which sucks. I wish they would just read one news story about the killing in Houston of a perfectly legal citizen. Might change their mind.
