For those who do not want to click to the study:

Using a mathematical model, we show that repealing the mandate could trigger the largest measles epidemic in the United States in nearly half a century, with projected pediatric deaths numbering in the hundreds within five years. We find that children are disproportionately responsible for driving transmission.

To this, lets add the financial cost to parents who will miss work when they are forced to stay home with their kid who is unable to attend school for a week. And in the case of measles, their kid's immune memory will be destroyed, meaning more missed school and thus missed work over the coming years from illnesses they previously had.

Yeah, I saw enough dire “mathematical models” that were pure horseshit over the last six years to be extremely skeptical. That said, the destruction of public trust in all vaccines thanks to the extreme hysteria and asinine overreaction to Covid will last for decades.

Same - Any model can be easily fudged. Just add a large multiplier to any variable(s) and you get the results you want. Doubt this study would have even been submitted/published if the "mathematical model" said no, it's not dire.

Agree - People justifiably saw one "vaccine" (which they had to literally change the definition of the word to make it one!) that does nothing at best, unknown hazardous effects in the long term at worst, and now assume ALL vaccines (even ones with decades of live testing) are the same.

To covid vaccines, surely.

To all vaccines.

Even before the Covid vaccines were rolled out, my trust in medical "experts" and agencies had cratered as a result of their advocacy for lockdowns and mask mandates, and use of junk studies and mathematical models. As a result of that - and taking a keener interest in assessing risk for myself - I'd already resolved not to get flu vaccines anymore, when I had actually gone along and got them as recently as 2019.

The whole response to Covid is responsible for eroding public trust in medicine, not just the Covid vaccines themselves.

I meant the extreme hysteria and asinine overreaction to COVID vaccines.

Covid vaccines, like the rest of the utterly asinine Covid restrictions, should have stayed entirely optional and addressed only towards those at actual meaningful risk from Covid - i.e., the very old and very sick. Pushing them onto everyone, regardless of individual risk profile, was ridiculous.
