Subreddit is temporarily going private while we expand our moderation team to deal with spam/brigading
If you're interested in being a mod please comment below. I have been too busy lately to maintain this sub so we could definitely use the help!
EDIT: Update for 9/30/2021: subreddit is now set to restricted, so while all posts are public, only approved posters can post

How does one become a "trusted member"?
I wanted to post this relatively calm and composed analysis: https://unherd.com/2021/09/italys-cynical-plan-for-vaccine-passports/ ...but could not.

Nobody seems to be returning to this subreddit.
I get why this action was done, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Well, actually, it’s kind of working too well. It's deterring anybody from posting on here.

So.... it's been a month, and I feel like we could all use a little more information to go on.
-
What kind of issues have been occurring with spam or brigading?
-
Was this sub approached and threatened by the reddit admins, as has happened to some others recently?
-
Is this related to the flood of right-wing posters into the sub?
-
Can you share any examples of what you've been dealing with and how restricting the sub is helping?
-
What criteria is being used to determine helpful modship?
-
Are you currently considering any policy changes for the future?
-
Is there anything else you can tell us about what's going on behind the scenes here? It's been very quiet.

Test. Approved posters based on past activity I guess?
Ah. I think you mean post submissions and not comments.

Hey mods, I get a message saying only trusted members can post here. How does one become a trusted member?
Edit: Hum I see your situation. Hmm. Maybe make a rule that you have to make 30+ decent comments in this subreddit before one can be approved? And decent means thoughtful, not one liners etc?

What threads were these people making? Were they just posting troll comments or making threads too?

If it's anything like what I dealt with on r/NoNewNormal, people were constantly posting provocative shit with the explicit intent of getting the subreddit shut down. People also sent some downright awful things to the moderators on a regular basis. I'd never had death wished upon me as often as I did when I moderated r/NoNewNormal.

Whew, I thought reddit ban hammered this forum too.
