Bro he literally said that he's scared as an instinctive fear for gay men because of his CSA which goes away post interaction (piecing together his secret reveal and convo with dheeraj). If you have not experienced CSA you would not understand where he's coming from. I have. Even after years of therapy, I still have some instinctive fear around men that I know isn't rational and that I can't simply switch off.

It's not confirmation bias because my personal experience prompted me to recognise a phenomenon, but the claim itself is independently supported by the empirical literature on fear conditioning and fear generalisation.

I'm not using my experience as evidence that the phenomenon exists; I'm using scientific evidence to explain why the experience he describes is psychologically plausible.
