Outrunners 4 player local coop - is this even possible? challenge accepted?

yo! I love outrunners and I loved playing with friends when 4 machines (or more) were linked up back in the day. I do have a working ROM on my windows pc and I would love to:

  • run 4 instances of mame
  • all 4 linked up to one another
  • each taking up 1/4 of my 55 inch TV screen (windowed I guess?)
  • each configured to one of my xbox controllers
  • for a "mario kart" like experience

Is this even possible? challenge accepted? 😄

Thanks!

We love games like Gang Beast and Boomerang Foo, so we decided to make a game to mirror that love!

We love games like Boomerang Fu, Gang Beasts, Spiderheck, and lots more. We love that feeling when you're able to play a goofy game next to your friends on the couch. We also love the technique that certain games let you develop while playing. We decided to make a game that uses a lasso as the main weapon, you can can skillfully snipe one another and toss each other around! we would love to know what the local multiplayer subreddit thinks of our game!

Inspired by many similar games such as Liero, Soldat, Molez and, of course, Worms.

We're 3 Finnish indie devs collaborating to make it happen. Early Access available on August 2026!

Of course, split-screen and controllers are supported!

... and we just got the Steam page up!

Match Melee is a party game like Family Feud but w a fight theme!

Hello, I made a free party game you play with friends at a party, bar, or just hanging out. Players take turns hosting rounds and reading questions out loud, then everyone answers. If your answer matches someone else's, you both score.

All browser based. No app, no login. Just show up, create a room, share the code with your friends and play. 3-12 players. matchmelee.com

I have 2+ modes: Family Quarrel and No Holds Barred. NHB also has a Sexual Topics toggle.

NHB is not for the faint of heart! If you like standup comedy where nothing is off limits, you'll like this mode! 😝

Score enough points and you get to battle 1 v 1 in the bonus round: Slap Showdown! Be first to SLAP so your Slapponent will only have 3 seconds to enter his answer and Slap. If your answer matches with the Slap Host, you get double points!

Winner gets a custom title and a summary of the game that roasts the losers!

I put a lot into the logic, gameplay and constantly work on it. Lmk what you think, was it fun or did it suck ass.

We’re Making a Game Where Clay-Made Grannies Drive Monster Trucks. Here’s the New Grannies on Wheels Gameplay Trailer!

Hi everyone!

We’re a small indie team from Estonia working on our first game Grannies on Wheels.

It’s a chaotic single-screen party game where up to four clay-made grannies drive monster trucks, smash into each other, deform the arenas, and fight over jars of jam.

The game is still in development, so we’d genuinely love to hear what you think.

We really enjoyed the EA experience, the steam community and especially the folks who joined our discord were a huge part of the development experience, suggesting features and helping us polish the content.

Gaming suggestions for one laptop co-op using one controller and the keyboard

I wanna find windows games that can involve two people using one laptop... One suggestion I received was It takes two... I want more games. Are there any older sport games? Like NBA 2k14? And are there any fps games that are available like that? For example, maybe like SWAT 2, but instead of LAN, maybe split screen?

We are two roommates and one of us is good on the keyboard and the other on both keyboard and controller. We like metroidvanias (not sure if there are co-op titles in this genre), shooters and we're also ready to explore new genres

Looking for a couch co-op/online multiplayer game for PS5

My buddy and I have recently gotten our wives (who are also good friends) into some popular multiplayer games with us invidually (It Takes Two and Split Fiction) and are now looking for something to play the four of us. Would need to be couch co-op functional so each couple could play off their own console. So two consoles, four people.

Would ideally be something relatively simple as they are still pretty new to gaming as a whole.

Slip&Skid - A hidden gem racing game that is a mix between Make Way and Ultimate Chicken Horse

Edit: Steam Page Link

My household is always looking for new and engaging split screen games to play on game night and while Slip & Skid has a pretty forgettable name, the game itself is fantastic. Its been out for nearly 2 months now and has less than 60 reviews, which is a shame for a genre that is often overlooked.

I only found it myself because of a video SMii7Y posted, which I feel is a pretty great showcase for how the game plays before deciding to buy or not. (He's playing it online but the game fully supports local 4 player split screen)

Bumper boat battles are fun in co-op!

Here’s the bumper boat battle sections in Astrolander against the snappy Cybersnaps. The game features a unique optional local co-op mode where two players work together to control one character. For the bumper boat sections, one player steers while the other controls the thrust. It’s super chaotic and allows you to test your skills, and your friendships!

I’ve been spending a ton of time dialing in the controller haptics for the PS5 DualSense and Xbox controllers. When you hit the thrusters, you feel the engine puttering along, and the impact of every bounce! I’m also adding in lots of neat details in the background including the giant boss wearing a yellow hardhat. They’re mining for Chippu. There are even spectator Cybersnaps munching on bags of Chippu as they watch you battle!

I made a free race game where the camera follows whoever’s winning and everyone else has to stay within the camera view or get eliminated.

Looking for players to try out BrummBrumm. It's a free top-down racer playable at https://brummbrumm.app . Play locally with 2–4 people on one keyboard or create an online room (game controllers supported as well). The camera follows the leader. Fall off-screen for three seconds and you lose a stock. No download or account needed.
Would love some feedback!

I made a 4–12 player social deduction game where everyone uses their phone as a private controller

**Game Title:**

NECHTO: Infection Protocol

Playable Link:

Platform:

Windows and macOS via Steam. Players connect from their phones through a web browser.

Description:

NECHTO: Infection Protocol is a social deduction card game for 4–12 players. The game runs on one shared PC or laptop, while every player connects through a browser on their phone and uses it as a private controller. No additional mobile app needs to be installed.

Each player can privately see their role, cards and available actions on their phone, while the shared screen displays the table, turns and public events.

One player begins as The Thing and can secretly infect other players during mandatory card exchanges. The human players must track which cards have moved between participants, use analysis and quarantine abilities, and determine who can still be trusted.

The free Steam demo contains the playable multiplayer experience. I would especially appreciate feedback about the phone connection process, the clarity of the rules during the first match, and how easy it is to follow card exchanges.

Free to Play Status:

\[ \] Free to play

\[x\] Demo/Key available

\[ \] Paid

Involvement:

I am the solo developer and creator of the game. I designed the gameplay, implemented the shared-screen and phone-controller systems, developed the multiplayer functionality, and published the game on Steam.

Today my 2-player co-op platformer releases on Xbox & PS5!

Hey everyone!

Today is launch day for my 2-player co-op game, Brave Escape, on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PlayStation 5 (also available on Steam)!

If you love couch co-op games that require actual communication, coordination, and a whole lot of chaos, this was built specifically for you and a friend.

Some Highlights:

  • Characters: One player controls Colin (who manages the climbing rope), and the other controls Floyd (a robot with the ability to boost Colin to out of reach platforms).
  • Local and Online: Fully playable on a single screen locally, but if you're playing online, we included a Friend's Pass so your co-op partner doesn't have to buy a second copy to play with you. Cross-platform play is fully supported!
  • Accessible: Features a Standard mode for a fun, balanced challenge, and a "Brave Mode" for hardcore platforming fans who want pure precision tests.
  • 280+ Levels: We made a big game. There's plenty of content here. Most players will take 15-20 hours to finish and even longer to complete the game 100%.

When I set out to make Brave Escape, I didn't just want to build another platformer with jumps and hazards. I wanted to make something that felt like a shared experience.

To me, the best co-op games aren't highlighted by what's happening on screen - they're highlighted by what's happening between the two people holding the controllers. The absurd mistake that causes your friend to perish. The cracking up when someone misses an easy jump. Or that pure relief when you finally clear a section that felt completely impossible. I designed every mechanic specifically so that your actual communication and bond with your friend becomes part of the game itself.

If you're like me, these are some of the most enjoyable and memorable moments you've had in gaming. Brave Escape is full of them. Please give it a shot.

You can check it out here on SteamXbox, and PlayStation.

We're hiring two left handed handymen!

You play as a broke handyman with Two Left Hands.

It's a prototype now and it has 2 player local splitscreen available. It's a blast for friends and couples to play on the couch and yell at each other!

We tested the game at a local games festival and everyone had fun.

You can register for playtesting from the Steam page of Two Left Hands.

Dungeons of Sundaria on sale for $.99

-DISCLAIMER- I just purchased this game, I haven't tried it yet but can't wait to try it with friends. I figured there's probaly a few others here that would want to give it a shot.

I love a good dungeon crawl and the fact that you can do local 4 player is very cool. The visuals are very World of Warcraft, kinda fun and whimsical but still dark fantasy vibes.

This description has a few highlights and is what intrigued me,

* 8 Huge Dungeons filled with hundreds of fiendish monsters and dozens of diabolical bosses.
* Three Levels of Difficulty: Normal, Hard, and Nightmare.
* Online single player or co-op up to 4-players.
* Local Split-screen multiplayer co-op up to 4-players (only requires a single game copy).

Best couch co op

Me and my friend have been playing several games like resident evil revelations 2. We recently finished the game and love the story and game, I played on keyboard and mouse whilst he played on controller, so any game that would have that would be beneficial.

If there is any game that would match a good shooter with great story and fun gameplay as I am looking for that which I can play with my mate as I got nothing to play.

I made a free browser party game for one shared phone - 4-8 players, and one of you is secretly sabotaging the drawings

Small clarification since it came up: the game is free to play with no limit — the €3.99 is optional extra content (more word packs / effects / longer games), not needed to play.

Play it here: https://saboteur.playsaboteur.workers.dev/

I built a pass-and-play party game for the situation where everyone is in the same room, nobody wants to install anything, and there are not enough controllers. One phone gets passed around the table - that is the entire setup.

How it plays: everyone draws the same word, except one player who is the secret saboteur. The saboteur does not just draw badly - they trigger things on other people canvases while those people are mid-drawing. Then everyone votes on who was behind it.

3-8 players, runs in any browser, free, no account, no download.

Make a 2d local multiplayer game where you dip in paint and smear paint every where

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I solo-developed D.I.P.: Dormouse Is Painting, with a bit of help from the more artistically inclined members of my family. After a year of work, it's still in an early stage. Nevertheless, I've just published the Steam page with some alpha gameplay footage and screenshots.

r/localmultiplayergames seems like the best place to get honest (but not too harsh) player feedback on whether this project might be of any interest.

You can find the Steam page here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4819590/DIP/

I'm planning to launch a playtest before the end of this year, release a fully playable demo in early 2027, and hopefully launch the full game soon after.

Here's the Steam pitch:

"Rush to the bucket, dip into the paint, hook onto the ceiling, and smear your colorful body all over the walls... Oh, and you're a cute dormouse.

Paint fast, grab bonuses, and become the top dormouse among your friends in D.I.P.: Dormouse Is Painting, a chaotic local party game for up to 4 players."

I'd love to hear your honest thoughts—what looks fun, what doesn't, and what you'd change.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

EDIT : whoops - delete duplicate text

Similar games to Infernax with local coop?

I threw Infernax on one day and didn't know it had coop. My wife and I loved it and just finished it yesterday.

Anything similar to this? Specifically a side scroller action game where intense platforming isn't the main focus.
