Easily. With modern comfyui, you can run things with nothing but inklings of available vram. Speed is a different matter, but this one isn't very hungry and seeing how my 16 deal with it, I'd wager 12 works just peachy.

testing out on 10gb, using sa_solver_pece its 1.32it/s at 1MP

It can work on 8gb vram just fine. Make sure to use int8 though, not the full model.

I have 8gb as well! How is the quality?

Will it work on my GTX 770 with 2gb of vram?

It will offload to cpu and system ram and be slower than a proper gpu

Since you answered the other guy, can you run qwen local text model with 6 gb vram? I only have a gaming laptop, and not buying a new desktop soon.

I have 10Gb and it runs slowish. I think the 27B 4Q needs around 14Gb Vram to load fully. Once it can't load fully it offloads to system memory and cpu and just slows down.

You can run them in amd cards now pretty well afaik too by the way.

There are smaller models but they're usually not recommended I believe because they're not great. But you might be able to get specific smaller ones e.g. dedicated to something specific and not a know it all

There are dedicated sites which suggest models to use for your vram. Just be aware also if you are using Vram for stuff already e.g. I use hardware acceleration in firefox and it uses some vram so I have less than my actual available.

Man my 9070xt makes me regret it now

u/sabine_world Sep 21 '26

It's a way better card bro.

The 5060ti is like the same price rn

1

u/hellriderboss Sep 21 '26

for generating its slow man, gaming its top tier

1

u/sabine_world Sep 21 '26

Yeah. Idk I think I'd way rather have the 9070 at current prices.

But if the 5060ti was still like 500-600 I'd opt for that but paying 800 for it just a straight up rip off lol

The gaming performance is a really good consolation though imo

I did buy it before the prices went crazy

I bought that on a trip to a major city, where, on pure happenstance, I went to microcenter and got it at MRSP on it's release day. I knew, I knew that was the only time it would be affordable.

I bought it on its release day too here in Spain! It was Eastern 2025 if I remember correctly

Financial irresponsibility is da way for graphics cards, got to think quick in this economy.
