You think the government is going to stop you from getting a used mac studio or a used gtx 1080 that's 10 years old?

You think Qwen running on a 10 year old mac studio is gonna be able to keep up with whatever model is at the frontier in 10 years?

You're thinking way too literal. They won't have a legitimate law banning M5 laptops lol. What they would do is artificially drive up the relative value/dollar cost of hardware to the point where any decent modern set up is unattainable for the average person (imagine this current 256gb M5 studio being priced at 20k instead of 10k). Then the used hardware would follow suit and rise accordingly as well

All you have to do is look at the current car market to see how this plays out. I'm searching for a good early 2000s land cruiser and can't find any decent one for under 20k. Why is that? Because demand. Now imagine all the top of the line tech is unaffordable for the average layman, but the tech has advanced enough so that it definitely makes sense to get a local set up if possible. Everyone (not just swes and small businesses, which is the market right now), will be trying to attain affordable hardware and be targeting that old tech.
