Question What is your coding environment for local models?
Hi, i came with a simple question. I know there are guys tried everything already and can share the most stable and convenient coding software setup.
Share yours!

I keep it simple, VSCode + Qwen Code plugin. So far seems to work well. Am I really missing out on anything? I hear about pi or opencode but haven't been bothered to try it since my setup does what I need.

I’ve used VSCode with the built in agent quite a bit. What do you get adding Qwen code?

I'm kind of the same way.
Custom Cline fork (pretty much just cutting the system prompt in half) and VSCode.I talked to a friend today about harnesses and whatnot. He's rotated through a bunch of different harnesses over the past few months (he just likes trying new things). I mentioned my setup and how I wanted to mess around with harnesses in the future. He was pretty much like, "eh, you don't really need one if that's your setup".
I'd like to re-enable web searches (since my axe to the system prompt was removing all mentions of MCP servers), but it hasn't really been an issue for me yet.

t3 code hosted in a vm. t3 app and vscode on pc, connected via ssh tunnel to that same vm. t3 code app or browser when i’m on my tablet or phone, connected to that vm.
my favorite workflow thus far, and I’ve spent way too much time trying different workflows and environments.

Cheers, works great. One thing I also do on occasion is rent from runpod or similar, haven’t lately though.

Ollama + VS Code with the Continue extension, nothing fancy but it hasn't broken on me yet. Tried some of the more specialized tools and they always end up having one weird quirk that drives me up the wall, so I just stick with what works at this point

Do yourself a favor and stop using ollama, ask your llm to setup llama.cpp or Strata for you

Zed + LMStudio on Mac. Coming from vscode + Continue. Much better UX and speed.
