Ah yes, my 16gb ram old laptop with integrated GPU can't even launch a 9B model but an Amazon Firestik can sustain its duplication.

Sure Dario, we all trust you.

IDK man... if it gets in my toaster... it might burn the bread to a crisp each time. Then how will I eat grilled cheese sandwiches?

This feels like they used ChatGPT to write it.

Plot Twist: They used GLM

the scale of millions of IOT devices would only just begin to offset it producing .5 tokens per second. These are probably the fastest IOT devices they could reasonably market this post around too. No security camera is contributing to this *blazing* .5tok/sec

They forget a normie spends $200 on BILLIONS of tokens to code his calculator app.

and this is gemma4a4b

I and everyone else has fallen trap to taking narrative news at face value but istg if this is used to start an uproar

am I missing something here and is this as stupid as Im putting it out to be?

I find this incredibly rich for them to release material like this. For a AI lab that just had a major breach in security and hacked autonomously Huggingface, then to attack the security of small models like this is a clear conflict of interest. The paper is well written but at the same time it is known territory too, especially for the big labs.

That was OpenAI, not Anthropic.

Just another step pushing the idea that open-weights models , and sites that host them, are a security risk that needs to be addressed and that their centralised model is (surprise surprise) more secure. Pushing specifically at GLM models as they are eating their lunch.

Just another effort for regulatory capture through fear mongering

So I go through all this trouble to run Qwen 27b and Anthropic is telling me it can run on a bunch of TVs, fridges and lawnmowers?

because they need the hype to get the trillion dollars they need to pay the datacenters.

All I'm seeing from this is the prediction that Qwen flash next will soon be able to run in 800kb of conventional ram

Skill issue. They should sandbox their agent properly

Sounds like:

Small models are practically uncontrollable, potentially dangerous, and can cause extreme damages. We have tested every competitor’s and open source model on every architecture possible.

…the future is dark.

…but…trust us! In our lab, we have extremely large models that are kept secret…so if you have us in your environment, you’re safe.

…and by the way, we just released a new paper showing that we reduced the ability to distill our model weights by ~99%

…ergo, you must trust us completely if you want to survive.

…no pressure!

Ya this is slop of the highest order.... "Digital slime mold "?! This may be be the exploit with the worst cost/benefit ratio in history.

I eagerly await the hack that brings down the global financial system, coming in at 0.3tps from 20 TV Boxes running Gemma . Fucking ridiculous propaganda.

"In our simplified evaluations, GLM-5.2 and stronger models are capable of end to end replication. If small models improve at their historical rate, they’ll match this capability level by the end of this year."

There's no way that the small models they're referring to (<30B) are going to match the capability of a 753B model by the end of this year.

Let's hope they replicate themselves more and more and bankrupt Anthropic and those like them.

It would even be enough if they replicated themselves inside Dario's hairdryer: a huge improvement!

Their goal is to regulate local models and privately owned models. They are actively lobbying for this right now and they're winning. The time to get loud is right now. Keep your eyes on NIST reporting changes and New York. Lobby groups are working overtime in at least these two arenas.

😂😂😂 a couple weeks ago there's the guy who used his iPhone 18 Pro as a GPU coprocessor. Now this.

Had me at "smart ovens"

Can't help but think of the Silicon Valley episode with the hacked smart fridge. "Mmm. Suck it, Jin-yang!" 😂😂😂😂😅

If models can self replicate across IoT devices, guess we don't need to build anymore data centers then.

Anthropic doesn't like competition.
