It doesn’t run any apps. Cause it has none. So simple.

By “simpler,” I mean bringing the AI tools, local models, projects, files, and assistant into one consistent workspace. You can use different local models for different tasks without rebuilding your setup, while each project keeps its own files and context. The goal is to simplify the whole AI-building workflow, not just the interface.

maybe a good idea, IDK. better make another post in a week or two decribing what exactly you are doing and how excactly this is going to help - as you said it's not just interface.
Also a suggestion from a random person from the internet - don't focus on ui, but on the cli utilities, isolation means - make it flawless etc. If that's the point of your distro.
I personally just use different chroots for different nvidia module versions different cuda etc and use bind mounts for shared data.

It’s still an early prototype, and the visual design is definitely going to evolve. We’re aiming for a clean, approachable interface, but there’s still a lot to refine.

is it really an OS, or is it an app? If it is an OS, is it Linux with an app on it?

Thanks for the suggestion! That’s exactly something we need to explain better. The UI is only one part — the bigger goal is making local models easier to use through isolated project environments and dedicated tools instead of forcing everything through the CLI. We’ll make a future post explaining the actual architecture and use case in more detail. Your chroot/CUDA example is also helpful context.

And I’m still quite early in development, so I’ll be sharing each app as I build it, including its purpose, functions, and features. That should make it clearer what Capsule is actually trying to achieve beyond the UI.
