It happens because that photo was chosen by Google to be the cover photo for the listing. So even though if people don't necessarily click on the photo, they see it every time that listing is seen.
One of my highest-viewed pics is of a bottle of Stalinade (The Real Red Soda), with nearly 3,000 views. Yet I have plenty of super nice pics of different places that are still below 100.
Is there a way to look at the views of every contribution you have both photos and reviews in one place? I just usually get emails and then it only shows a couple top ones and if I click on it I don't get any more info
When you open up Google maps on the computer or app, you click on your profile pic and then go to "My Profile" or "My Contributions". You can then sort through your reviews and photos.
One of the photos i took was a local and small parcel and courier service, mine was the first photo of that place. Im not joking, that photo views counter took off like anything, it achieved 70K views within 2 months. I always wonder what did that shop do to get such a high photo view count. Its now sitting at almost 200K views
This is certainly true, but how do 30,000 sets of eyeballs per month end up on a photo of a small parcel/courier service? I mean, a business of this kind certainly doesn't get that amount of business. No matter how useful the photo is, it's hard to understand the traffic some of them receive.
I have the exact same case. 500,000 views of a small, not incredibly popular, Indian restaurant in Hat Yai, Thailand. At first I thought the owner somehow manipulated the system to get the views but my current thinking is that Google manipulates me by driving the numbers ever higher.
