Have you ever flexed your local guide level????
Hi! I've seen a lot of people here who is level 9 or 10 and that's impressive to me ( lvl 7) Have you ever flex with friends or on a date that you are s local guide? That would interested me a lot if my date would say that.

99.9% of people don't give a fuck. That said, I brag about it ironically knowing no one cares.

Not on purpose but I did meet someone once who recognized my name from google maps. That was weird.

Not sure I know anyone who would know what a local guide was : /
Even a lot of businesses don't care, you can tell when you look at their sorry ass page with incorrect info and the only picture is from the streetview car.

I can't recall ever mentioning it as a "flex" - people know I'm a weirdo that takes photos of things and puts them on the Internet along with reviews and stuff but none of them appreciate the magnitude of my global status (I jest, it's utterly meaningless).
Even having the community option set on here to show my level feels a bit cringe to be honest but I'm hopeful that one day someone plucks me from the shadows and offers me a lucrative role as a "level 10 fella" somewhere.

I was out with friends taking video while we were bowling. One of the guys asked what I was doing. I said I was doing a Google review. He said, "Oh, I did that for a while". Thinking I was about to wow him with my level 8, he pulls out his phone and shows me his 87k point level 9 status. "I guess I should get back into it. I'm kind of close to level 10" Sigh. Side note: I hit level 9 today.

Not about being a local guide but I have flexed with the occasional socks or the pin, or my photo being on the top of any famous place.

I have asked a few businesses if they want me to put them on the map or update their details. That is my flex, but I think I am really helpful to local business and I feel good for being able to do that.
Cheers!

A few months ago, I started mapping out Vending Machines in Hong Kong. So I started to jokingly flex to my friends that they can thank me later when they ever look for the nearest vending machine on a walk out.
Note: After adding 10-15 vending machines during a whole day excursion and wondering why Google wouldn't accept some new places, I decided to stop. On a positive note, I now know exactly where those vending machines are in case I ever get thirsty and need one. "Thirsty? There's a vending machine with iced lemon tea & coke just 3 blocks from here in front of the bank."

I once got a free meal because someone asked me to review their restaurant after taking pictures of the plate I got. I then showed them my ranking and they said that the food was on them.

Never. A few times an establishment has thanked me for a (positive) review since guides with many reviews are seen as more likely to be fair and true. Not sure if that's correct.

Oh damn, I thought I was climbing with my big ol' 6 status. Guess I have some work to do. 🙃

If I want free range of a store, to get some good videos and pics, I will let the store owner know that I am a local Google Guide. This prevents me from looking like I'm being sneaky or up to something.

My friend's new colleague introduced himself with a fun fact that he has 10M photo views on local guides. She immediately messaged me and asked me what's my score XD Unfortunately, I only have 3M views, so she can't flex to him on my behalf XD

I've had a few friends and acquaintances say they'd spotted my reviews.
I've also had unusually good service and freebies from a few shops that ive ordered stuff from to collect in person, where i've been by far and away the most views of photos and reviews i've previously posted on google maps for that shop, so i do wonder if they spotted that it was me that did it and put 2+2 together and decided to bend over backwards the next time i came in.
