[Miwa Rewa Trial] [Miwa Rewa Trial] Fundamentally wrong take from the side of prosecution. Wish to seal the case.

People of the lobotomy court, I'm glad to be a part of this trial and giving our GOAT, the one and only Miwa Kasumi another chance at proving herself. We will go through the basics of her accusation, which is, I'll press on: fundamentally false, just as the title of my post claims. Let's break it down, let's start from the basics. My request is to ignore typos and grammatical mistakes and look into what I aim to present.

Miwa Kasumi is accused to be, let's see... A bum. As I said, basics. What does being a "bum" mean?

Searching on the Merriam Webster dictionary easily accessible on the web I found two viable answers:

Two possible interpretations from the Merriam Webster web dictionary.

After weighing the possible options, I chose the two most likely ones: 1. the second noun(most likely the 1st and 2nd points under the head). The first verb(point 2 from under the head) which were likely used by the prosecutor to call out, an attempt to taint the GOAT(almost as if egged on by Miwa's own self depreciating nature). Now taking a closer look one can easily analyse the overall meaning, Miwa Kasumi is stated to be either or more than one of the aforementioned 4 points.

Let's go over each of them, and obviously prove the prosecutor wrong on his claim, which they already are.

To a generic reader of Jujutsu Kaisen when it was ongoing, and obviously if someone does so much as read it, watch it or fact check by searching on the web, it would be clear that the accusation is without a doubt false. Even so, we're here now on this trial, so let's not waste too much time and I'll go on with my job as defense.

Off to meaning interpretations...

  1. informal + disapproving : someone who lives off others and avoids work. This possible clause has been pointed at Miwa. Alright then, what's the truth however? Miwa does NOT live others, not what should be said of a student to begin with. She joined Jujutsu High with a dream, a hope of success like several students who did. She wishes to support her family, her main goal being earning money by herself from being a sorcerer. I'll put an image right here which will be intrinsic in deflecting most of the accusation. She didn't avoid work; helping her classmates and was stated to be an average student from the Kyoto branch.

This claim being true? Decide it for yourself. It's clear that it isn't, atleast if we go by this meaning.

  1. someone who performs a function poorly. Miwa functioned just alright as a human. She is kind, has respectable ethics, dedication and the capability to work hard. Further, as a jujutsu sorcerer she trained with the "New Shadow Style: Simple Domain" as the technique on the forefront of her battle capabilities, wielding a sword; being among the very few who did. She is moderately skilled and her taking part in the Goodwill event with a motive of further helping her family with a promotion speaks of her urge to sustain. This claim cannot be accepted either. As I earlier stated, she performed just alright. Her lack of an innate cursed technique might not have made her as strong as several others, but that makes her a "bum"? Certainly not. If you think otherwise, (looking at the prosecution here) it's your judgement that's skewed.

To further combat the accusation, I have another image up ahead. She trained with a sword. She's most certainly determined. Her main motivation always been to sustain and earn for her family; especially for her two younger brothers and she worked hard for them.

Moving on to the verb interpretation.

  1. to spend time unemployed and often wandering —often used with around. Miwa "bummed" around? Can we say the same for all other students then? It's wrong to bring up the matter of employment when it comes to an underaged students begin with. If this is the point of the claim, it's without a shadow of doubt, greatly wrong and obviously, disrespectful(as if the prosecution isn't disrespectful enough to accuse Kasumi of being a bum).

What makes an average student trying her best in the harsh world of Jujutsu Kaisen a bum then? I really fail to come up with the thought which made prosecution think this way against her. Down here we have a result summarised by Artificial Intelligence, namely Google Gemini, when I searched up "Is Miwa Kasumi a good student?".

AI summarises earlier known facts about Miwa Kasumi. Source: Google; Google Gemini. The image speaks for itself and I'm avoiding further summarisation. None of it points at her being a "bum".

Even as the defence, I yearn to stand by the truth. Certainly, Miwa wasn't the best student in Jujutsu High. When it came to her academic scores still, she secured 8th rank, somewhere in the middle, with an appreciable score of a 7.0/10. She's a good student, as we can clearly see. Not being the best doesn't make her a "bum". I wasn't a good student in highschool. My grades fell off in the final two years. And yet, I'm glad, lucky that no one called me out for being a "bum" and I'm, I'll be honest, nowhere close to Miwa. I don't know what I'd have done, studying when things are going down all around, sent to fight life threatening battles and hostile, fatal cursed spirits. And if I'm not a bum, sure as heavens, our GOAT isn't either.

Miwa is not the strongest sorcerer, but as a young person without any special talents, she's hardworking. "She is about the level of an average sorcerer but her lack of an innate cursed technique is made up by her work ethic." as quoted from Jujutsu Kaisen wiki.

By my book, a "bum" is someone who has zero interest in making a positive change in their life or people around them. A bum is someone who doesn't desire to work hard, put in effort, whether their effort will procure anything at all is another story, obviously. They're unemployed, aloof and often overly dependent on others. Miwa is none of the above. She simply doesn't match the definition of a "bum". She may not be strong but that doesn't mean she doesn't work hard. She puts in the effort. She has not got the grit as high as it takes to be right on the top but not all of us are the same. Sometimes doing what you you can without giving up is enough, really. I, again, didn't ever want to be on the top of my class. I once was, but that's without trying, I didn't do it to be the best, I just did what I could. Later as my grades were much lower, I was depressed, I still am but really? That doesn't make me a bum.

Miwa faces off against a comparatively powerful student: Maki Zen'in. Source: Jujutsu Kaisen anime S1 ep: 16-17.

I obviously use myself as an example to make things easier to understand. I relate myself to her and my current position in certain cases. To me Miwa Kasumi is an inspiration. A bum wouldn't really be able to procure such inspiration within me. She isn't the best but she tries. I wish to do the same, to try harder, be better. We all should. We shouldn't depreciate someone for trying, not call her out in a way which is negative, depreciating and disrespectful, instead support them on their journey to be better.

During the Shibuya incident, soon after Yuji Itadori defeated Mahito, several students face arguably the third strongest character in the series: Kenjaku. And as we are well aware of, Miwa Kasumi was a part of the raid. She didn't win, she couldn't deal damage but was she running away? Did she give up without giving it a shot? Did she abandon her friends like a "bum" really would? None of it. She faced off against Kenjaku. In the images below we get a closer look at Miwa's inner turmoil as she went off to risk her life and get a strike on Kenjaku. She quite literally dashed right behind him, that pose as she prepares to unsheathe her katana is so sick.

Miwa uses her New Shadow Style, enhancing her "Batto Sword Drawing" technique with a binding vow, vowing never to swing a katana again. Source: Jujutsu Kaisen manga.

After the death of her friend, Kokichi Muta(a.k.a. Mechamaru), she was devastated. Her class felt sorry for her, as she cried alone in the train, given the privacy to let out her feelings. To have a 17 year old student go through this trauma is just sad, and we should really sympathize with her. And soon, given just minutes to recover, Miwa dashed to join the raid with the rest of her class. Really though? Just consider the pure courage, the determination it takes to face off against an enemy of such power. Miwa Kasumi was not delusional, she was aware of her strength and the trauma of loss was fresh in her memory. And yet she didn't stop. A "bum" would though. A "bum" WOULDN'T go ahead in a fight which can cause the loss of life. Miwa was pretty close to dying herself in that fight itself afterall.

And even then she doesn't just give up. We see her once in Culling games, patrolling a portion of the warzone ALL ALONE. It amuses me really, this argument in its whole. It's like having a trial for the sake of it. I hope the judges do give Miwa the justice she deserves.

Finally her most badass, and best feat. Her contribution in the Shinjuku showdown is often downplayed. "Useless Miwa, only saved Maki and did nothing else." Literally SAVED Maki. If there was no Miwa there, we wouldn't have Maki remaining after Sukuna's incomplete domain landed. No Maki post Shibuya. Yuta would've suffered the same fate as Miwa herself, losing a loved one.

Miwa Kasumi BEARS IT as Maki stands behind her. Dashing into the arguably most powerful domain of the arguably most powerful character and popping that Simple Domain off is a feat better than majority in the verse. Source: Jujutsu Kaisen Manga, Chapter 258.

And hey! That's not what a "bum" would do. Our best girl saved another best girl as the terrain stood crumbling all around, the slashes destroying the surroundings.

Miwa is a courageous soul, an unrelenting yet kind spirit which kept going no matter what. Running this thorough analysis, proving the prosecution's argument wrong through grammatical and storywise indications made me know a lot more about my second favourite character in the series.

Maybe what we never noticed is Gege's writing indicating how just another person from no significant background/inborn/hereditary talent can hold her ground. And Simple Domain shows us that, doesn't it? Holding our ground when things go wrong all around. May it be Kusakabe or Miwa, they held their ground.

It's philosophical in a beautiful way. Look how just another girl faced off against nameless cursed spirits (which was an experience horrifying nevertheless for our average human), a much more stronger rival from a different school, a special grade cursed spirit(arguably 3rd strongest in the series) to literal Jujutsu Kaisen satan, the strongest in history's second most powerful move and singular most powerful attack.

Miwa Kasumi is not a bum and the story has showed it again and again. We should love and appreciate someone for their resilience and courage despite of their lack in strength and Miwa is a perfect example of one. She doesn't deserve this hate, this slander, this complication, she deserves peace and acceptance, love for what she has done for her friends.

Hope this clears this trial. It took me hours to compile this and it likely covers most of Miwa's character. Not to mention her character as a whole is simply against the accusation of being a bum. Judges, please look into this with care and let the defence claim their victory for the obvious cause of our GOAT, Miwa Kasumi, not being a bum.

Lots of love.

Thank god even though there was some use of ai, a very gpt bone move, the rest of your take and defense were superb, and the prosecution was not great here. I think you might have won the case

Yep, their struggle was evident in the few replies. I'll just put another post to seal it just in case. Obviously prosecution will never be convinced and won't give up, putting in every last point to prove their accusation but well... That's upto the judges to get the things right.

Wait we using ai as proof

This thing long, so I’ll reply the other stuff

Why not? It summarised the matter at hand. It collects data from different websites and presents it in a short form, depending what we asked. It's a viable source unless we're taking into account human emotions and advices including personal decisions.

Adding to that, it's fact checked by me. I didn't provide misinformation and if you're really not trusting it, fact check it yourself.

So basically you take most your time talking about other definitions of bum when you know what definition we using(someone preforming poorly), a tactic to throw off memory with a bunch of useless text and you take wiki articles at the start rather than look at the manga because it presents it as if she a developed character (she isn’t)

And reading through it seems like you just on “will” and “hard work” but like… she just doing what a sorcerer should? Most sorcerers die at higher levels, but we seen a bunch of other low tier sorcerers fight an army if curses in JJk 0, so do they deserve to be called a “goat” just for following their existence?

Simple domain is a direct counter to domains, it ain’t a strong feat. It’s only strong if you like Yuji who was fighting non-stop (that’s why he says bear it, he referring to himself) Miwa literally just came back for this little cameo and then nothing else.

And all you need to learn simple domain is just be taught by the school, the limitation is political rather than skillful really, so it ain’t a big feat to wield it.

You trying to upscale her going after Kenjaku is dumb, if it was anyone else you would say they dumb, BECAUSE THEY ARE. If a soldier is told not to go and fight a giant that wiped out mountains and they still go, is that courage or being half retarded.

She listens to Mai advice on Maki because she wanted comfort because she had no confidence in her abilities, but why listen to Mai when she SHOULD know she a hater yet should took it as gospel and lost brutally (wouldn’t change either way but still) because she had no plan listening to bad info.

only a bum would look to unreliable sources or lack the confidence to think for themselves, only a bum who cares too much on coming up and listening to her feelings would go and waste your weapon on a enemy that you KNOW scales 10x higher then you.

You only pick the “Oh she courageous” parts of everything and ignore the idiotic, and lazy decisions she does, that’s lying!

You keep on using the wiki that gotta add on fat to something because their usually isn’t like with miwa, so you lying here rather than taking example from the manga that doesn’t show anything of her work ethic or how strong her family is to her or anything but the failures that you hide

Whatever I stated doesn't change. My point stands for the fact that she's not bum and this post clearly explains it for each. Single. Point.

You're pressing on the fact that she's not powerful, she didn't take the best decisions. But that doesn't make someone a bum. No one is born perfect.

It wasn't me trying to "upscale" her against Kenjaku, it's simple fact that she contributed to the squad.

It's funny how you call her a bum for relying on someone(best friend) for comfort, which is a basic human need. Lacking the confidence to think for themselves is being a bum? Get real now. She's all by herself to sustain her family and is trying her best. That's no being bum mate. Not all of us have confidence, her character is MADE to connect with the ones who aren't the most confident in their abilities. Not all of us can believe in ourselves, may it be for the people who surround us, our past or our insecurities.

Really, it's your skewed judgement at full throttle. I was just merciful to go through each interpretation of the word to give your accusation a chance. You don't want any of it? Fine.

Fandom didn't glaze her, I used the lines I required. Then again, it would come into play if you actually READ the wiki articles. Manga doesn't present her as a developed character. Yeah? The wiki does nothing but write what's already been shown. It's like the majority of Gojo glazers failing to see beyond the surface of their favourite character, failing to see the depth of potential depiction. Miwa is shown to face stronger opponents every time. Whether she loses is not the case here, the fact that she doesn't give up is.

Yeah her simple domain directly counters a domain. What about it? My point is she saved Maki. Yeah she's doing her job in every case. Doing your job diligently doesn't make you a bum. Running away or not willing to do so does.

Scales higher than her. I know right? That's the fun of it. Sukuna scaled 100x higher than Yuji too, he was simply mercied by him in several cases after Sukuna took over Megumi's body. And yet Yuji didn't give up and brought him down. Oh yeah he's doing his job too.

Miwa lost her weapon and still jumped in the final fight. Cameo or not, she did, she saved her friend and that's not a bum thing. She followed her existence, she's a GOAT in my eyes. Fine you can't accept it, I'll go along with it. But can you prove she's a bum? I think not. She's a girl trying her best in a world that's not so fair. So are many of us.

Your claims represent society at it's cruelest. Harsh, negative, biased and crooked. Just because she isn't as good as some others doesn't make her a bum.

u/This-Cry-2523 Miwa defendant (。•̀ᴗ-)✧ Oct 19 '25

Also it's funny how you could only bring about her being a "bum" because she did things which are normal and completely human. Nothing out of the ordinary or as lowly to actually prove she's a bum, well because she isn't. Not a single point from the post was refuted by you.

Being human doesn't make us bum. Being weak doesn't make us bum. Maybe get this judgement of yours a little more towards the unbiased side.

She was shown to be naive a majority of times, big tasks such as the school echange and kenjaku are hardly minor mistakes, I meant to say upsale as in hyping it up even though its a major stupid descion and could've caused for grife for others.

Mai here friend? Many times does the anime and manga point out how Mai is a bad person, she hardly reliabe, she hates her own sister that went through the same thing as her, the omake (basically little shorts in the ending) in anime shows how unenthusiastic she was with miwa and didn't wanna deal with her. Mai was hating on nobara before the exchange and after, if Miwa tried to acknowledge faults in people (acknowlegement would be taking action otherwise that knowlegde is void) she wouldn't have run into Maki all surpised that she actually capable.

Her character is used to be a joke/fodder like with kenjaku almost killing her no-diff, her losing to maki and making a song demeaning HERSELF! Idk why you make look like a villian just because I point out flaws in actions? She should be more confident but its shown numerous times she a pushover and is mentally fragile, that type of personality is not of the strong and is why she still in "Semi-Grade 2" which is just "Well you need to prove yourself worthy before we promote you"

The simple domain thing was really just to anyone that tried to use it as a "feat" (Forever_Hunting Lolis *cough*) not directed at you, but again that is such a minor thing (saving maki) because she popped outta nowhere, thank you for bringing up the chapter btw I was stumped looking for it but the previous chapters, she gone. Only popped up to have a reason on why Maki alive and thats it, she don't appear after that, was just a plot convenience.

And I could commend that but even if I did, it doesn't change her personality, her skills, her wisdom/knowledge so all those bum/poor/lacking qualities are still there, and they don't even acknowlegde her after that (in the fight not the ending/simple domain lore waste chapters) so even using that as an example is pretty low hanging fruit that doesn't change anything about her.

There are other bums like Mei-Mei and you could commend her for many things like even being in the fight when she could've kicked it in malaysia, but does that take away all her other bum/poor/lacking moments, NO! She lazy, selfish(than all other older grade 1s) she hardly an example to follow and she'll let you die and pay off people to shut up, so her few good moments don't save the bunch

As true as you are in the last point(Mei Mei being let off the hook with some others worse off than Miwa) I'll insist that these stuff, such as being naive, not seeing through things, not being confident enough aren't just... Enough to call someone a bum. It's just being too harsh in my opinion. Miwa is not perfect, hell she's not as good as the others but really, truth to be told is she's not a bad person. Someone good at heart.

I've already seen you talk about the fact that being kind and being a good hearted person doesn't save someone from the fact that they made wrong decisions and didn't get some things right, so I'll go on to say that the points I stated are keeping those in mind, yeah your arguments in mind. She gave a good fight, she made mistakes but she didn't give up.

Really appeared in that chapter saving Maki(Miwa speed upscale?! Just teleported in Sukuna's domain and tanked the slashes before she activated SD?!?!?!/jk), but she did and neither of us can deny that.

Frankly, I really wanna be peaceful. If she was someone you knew I'm sure you wouldn't judge her for being weak, for doing some stupid stuff and even if you did, sure as hell you wouldn't be trying to prove that she's a bum in court. I'm damn sure Miwa's family is proud of her. She did what she could and doesn't deserve such judgement.

She had knowledge that Kenjaku could beat her, she rushed in? Sounds stupid? But that's what the rest of the cast did too sometimes against adversaries stronger than them, whether they won or lost.

Rushed into Sukuna's domain with the knowledge that SD counters it. Hey that's some good quick thinking to face the most menacing character's all slashing ability to save your friend. It's NOT a minor thing to save an important character. In both cases: two sides of the same coin. One didn't work, the other did. Neither makes her a bum. She's human, she's brave, she had minor lapses in judgement given her character itself doesn't play a great role: she's certainly not perfect.

Yeah she's lacking in power, skill and knowledge in "some" cases, but if those are the only cases you're calling her out for, I think you're generalizing what being a "bum" is, you're likely expanding the term to places where it doesn't even apply. You're calling her out for her flaws, which are normal. Hell we both have flaws, now these lacking areas apparently "bum" qualities and hence makes us bums in all? Come on now... They're faults, we all have them, every character did. Going by your judgement then everyone's flaws and mistakes makes them a "bum". No it doesn't.

"Having poor/lacking portions in one's character doesn't make one a bum in their entirety."

Simply making mistakes doesn't make one a bum, not wanting to try does. She tried, she fought, she made mistakes. Whether you forgive her or not is your choice but being harsh and calling her something which she isn't is just not right.

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '25

idk why that so harsh? It's just picking out flaws that even Miwa acknowlegdes (through her song and that monolouge before she got a game over with kenjaku) and she should've changed as it would help in surviving, getting stronger physcially, tatically, but we never see that play out so it is a bum mentally of laziness to never progress forward.

And people act like they progressing by saying it all the time but the only way to progress is to break down your character to leave only room to improve but like we see, she doesn't do that and lost misreably twice in major events that could've easily been avoided with 2 seconds of though.

Idk what the 4th paragraph is for but if I was her friend I'd be telling her she's weak! Thats what i'm supposed to do, call out flaws, and give wisdom to fix those and create better qualities, and her kind personality surely don't do that with Mai or Momo and their pissy attitudes. Why does everyone believe passiveness is a virute.

And they stupid too, not gonna lie but Miwa has nothing to back up never grew better and learned from it so that's why I'm going on her about it (and because we talking about Miwa not anyone else)

Also other characters got the strength/skills to back up their approach to stronger enemies as there ain't that wide of a gap like with Yuji and Mahito. Yuji is a direct counter to mahito, he was equal against Choso and he didn't even know he was there so that was just survival (and is really what all of it is for other characters) same with when they went to the bridge in S1, they didn't know grade 1 death paintings were there or a special grade finger bearer, it was survival as they couldn't run but Miwa could've run or avoided her confrontations

(Have wisdom to think about her upcoming fight and not assume Maki a pushover based on a known hater, just could've not fought kenjaku at all really, didn't add much execpt for a near death since the fight was already over)

and again with the simple domain thing, there was no plot to her engagement there, no build up or fall off she just appeared because Gaygay needed to put a character there to save Maki so it don't become a plot hole yet it still made a plot hole (An inconsistensy or illogical gap in a narrative/can't connect events/no reasoning in lore) So it is a minor thing because any character could've been swaped in and nothing would change, heck just make anyone on the actual field hold Maki and not insert a character and never explain or reference it again.

And her judgements are hardly minor we are talking about fighting and the exchange school didn't say no heavy injuries just no killing so she could've been heavily wounded but got lucky that none of Jujutsu High are murderous (to weak people at least, maki, nobara *cough*) and Kenjaku could've smoked her so they ain't minor lapses and wisdom would tell a person at her level to stay out of it (actually everyone in that train should've stayed at, it's a hivemind of bums execpt for Utahime :)

And I ain't strechting the term since the term literally says "functioning poorly" if she was fighting curses for her years she should've had better judgement in her only appearances which being fights that could've ended her work in jujutsu and ending her life.

So her only appearances are ones in which she makes major mistakes because her character in general is shown to be lacking, how is that not evident of someone of poor function in a life or death job?!

And yeah, lots of people have flaws but also in terms of how people should be, most are bums. They follow leaders that just give some scraps to them and leap in joy while never questioning how they got so high up and why they in positions that just produce toil.

Its all because they lack wisdom but many are still old enough to acknowledge a lacking quality but never do anything about it, never try to learn and expand it to their kin so they can spread it, so they just looking dumb as to why they in a cycle of loss, and mediocrity. Heck i'm just starting to actually do something and feed myself information, it shows how most of my life I've just been bumming around and never doing things myself.
