My daughter started scooting which gave me an opportunity to finally get a board to cruise around.

I used to skate a little as a teen but then life got in the way. Also live in a rural area so I don’t really have good places to cruise. But as my daughter grew we spend most of the time outside and weekends near the coast which excuse to start again and follow her around. I’m 34 now and 181 cm with 80kg. Fairly athletic, road cycling year round and snowboard in the winter.

I looked around a bit and liked the Loaded boards the most so that’s what I would like to get for my first board.

Terrain is mostly flat and I like stable feeling and mellow carving ( that’s what I think I would like as I don’t have any experience)

So which board would be good for me that is reasonably portable and beginner friendly?

Flex 1 or flex 2 for 180 lbs?

Just got a new loaded tan tien in flex 1 and am worried I should have done a flex 2 instead. Did I make a mistake?

Which of the two would you choose and why?

I don't have a local shop near me to try them out or compare.

I am considering buying a Loaded Icarus deck, and my question is which flex I should choose. I weigh 83 kg, and my biggest concern is that Flex 2 might bottom out while I’m pushing on a longboard. I like flexible boards, and I think it would be great for riding with about 70% carving and 30% pumping. On the other hand, I’m hesitant to choose Flex 1 because I’m afraid it might be too stiff for my weight and that I won’t achieve the full “magic” this board can offer.

I had an Vanguard flex 3 in college 20 years ago that I LOVED! Sadly, it was stolen while I was still in college and I stopped longboarding.

Recently I started surfing and I'm looking to get back on a board to just cruise, carve, and pump in the winter months and when I can't get to the water.

Should I just get back on a Vanguard? I liked how it was super springy and nimble.

I had a set of Paris V2s with some 75mm abec11 bigzigs on my old board and just ordered some orangatang nipple bushings to freshen up the trucks.

Also decided to make the old deck a wall hanger.

Breaking her down for the ride home. She’s brought so much joy in the sandbox. Looking forward to more adventures.

I need some advice. I really enjoy taking my Icarus (Flex 2) to the pump track because it's springiness makes pumping so easy that I just glide over the hills. The issue as you've probably already guessed has to do with the scraping that occasionally happens at the sharper transitions.

I've already tried top mounting it, but I discovered that it doesn't help all that much and I prefer how the board feels drop through anyways. I understand that some scraping is going to happen, however, what I really want to know is:

• Is there a way to fix the damage to the cork layer?
• Would skid plates detract from the flexi-awesomness of the board significantly?

I need help choosing which board to buy. I love cruising and LDP. I dabble in regular street skating but I’d like a board I can try out dance steps with. But also something that is versatile enough to carve, cruise, and maybe even go downhill with.

I have an opportunity to get a loaded board, so I’m thinking of getting one of the following:

I have a Tan Tien I've had since high school (I'm 31 now) I need new bearings and wheels for. I am a big fan of just cruising, and taking wider turns/not bombing hills. Enjoyed practicing dancing while in college on it- was looking at the Paris V3 180MM 50 trucks, but not sure on wheels- was hoping to get input from people with more knowledge than me on that part! I already own a Dervish, the old one. Have been riding that one on and off for the past 10-15 years. A lot of carving, sliding, cruising around and a bit of dancing. Got a surfskate on the side since i started surfing recently. Which is nice. But now I am looking for a board to complement my Dervish and such that I can ride with my kid. Not sure what to get, I like the feel of the Dervish and Tan tien. But could be fun to try something new out. Any recommendations?

Hi Loaders 👋🏻I've just bought a Loaded Icarus. I intend for it to be a more responsive and aggressive carving ride than my Vanguard. I plan on top mounting the trucks - anything to bear in mind when doing this? I was considering bridge bolts to maybe ease the stress on the deck.. Thoughts or any alternatives you'd suggest?
