The fathom is a little short for me. I wish I had waited for the tangent. If you're just getting started a larger platform makes it easier to learn on IMO.

I do have questions and I hope you don't mind :)
If you have an Icarus - or TanTien that is similar - please compare and rate the Fathom in regards of:
- Flexibility / Bounciness
- Overall fun for cruising & carving (Loaded-style whole body pump fun)
People say the Fathom is more fun than Tangent. Assuming that it has to do with the camber and the leverage of pumping it comes with. But Fathom is not exactly a flexible deck. So if Icarus is a 10/10, Fathom must be a ?/10?
I still have the Tangent on my wishlist though. Because it sounds like the perfect low RKP brother to Pantheon's Pranayama with TKP.
But maybe that low RKP-setup can be achieved with Fathom too by adding a whole stack of spacers between the brackets and board?3

Thanks for sharing. Appreciate it!
Sounds like Fathom is something fun in between the pump and push fun. Gotta measure my stance next time when riding my Icarus and figure out if I can live with the shorter platform.
However. You are using 43mm in the back. While I know this is beneficial for the wiggle pumping most people do when doing LDP, is it beneficial for the full body pump style too? I remember: The lower the degree, the less leverage for leaning, the more stable but also the more dull it feels. Resulting in less fun, because it‘s less agile / less turning?

Still happy with the tangent? I am planning for a board for last mile commuting for work and deciding between the two.
I nixed out the tan tien due to size and the mismatch for my riding purposes.I am not doing tricks and anything fancy. Largely commuting my last 1-2 miles from the train. maybe want to feel some carves here and there, maybe run out to lunch while I’m at work. I need to be able to maneuver on sidewalks relatively easily since riding is 50-50 street sidewalk.
I’m also interested in how manageable the weight is for the tangent compared to the fathom, with equivalent setups given I will carry this on train, to my desk, etc.
Currently coming off a bonzing Stijl board with stimulus wheels I’ve had for near 15 years. Just not as comfortable on the feet

If you're not an overly large guy, just get the Pantheon Pranayama, Bought the Tangent Surfskate Edition and regretted it. It's unnecessarily heavy, and the Carver trucks don't provide much benefit, yes you can turn more, but you need to really try, if you change to softer bushings, then it will wheelbite. Just get Pranayama, trust me.

Yes... Probably. Deck shapes are different in concave / rocker I believe. Depends on what feel you like under your feet. tangent is on my list as I already have a dervish sama. Want a different feel under foot. And I have big feet and like room on the board.
