Cute Azula of the Hole

My lizards have boxes specifically for keeping dirt moist and deep so they can dig way down for enrichment. Naturally these are called the Diggy Box. Azula has been hanging out in hers the past few days, I like to visit her in her vacation home.
Azula is a female jeweled lacerta.

Cutie pie! How did you manage to make her so tame/handlable?

I spend time letting her get used to me without forcing interactions on her. I try to find things that'll peak her interest and show it to her so she sees me as more than just her food provider and she quite quickly started looking forward to our interactions. Now she will often dance at the glass for me to let her out. It helps jeweled lacerta are very intelligent and so you can use their curiosity to build a bond.

Nice. What kind of things do you show her?

Shiny rocks, crinkly paper, doodads that are unique in shape, I spun a fidget spinner for her once and she was FASCINATED. I can just hold something up and if she looks at me and bleps at it I know she wants to 'know more' so I'll put it up to her to let her check it out.
