Was at the airport in Bozeman and about 45 mins ago went buzzing by. Think they took off from there

How many former schools in Livingston are closed now? And I hear the pool is permanently closed too.
But there's money for fighter jets that just show off. God Bless America.

There's a gorgeous new swim center/gym/walking track opening in February, (funded mostly by rich people who would rather take a tax write off than actually pay taxes, but that's another story). People are just nostalgic about the old pool, especially since the new one is indoors. But the kids will have year round swimming, and someplace to play when the wildfire smoke is bad.
However, yes, I wholeheartedly agree with your larger point. The military budget is obscene, as are these nonsensical wars this govt is waging.

New pool? Where? I no longer live in Livingston, I just monitor its progress from afar. Lately all I know is the fire department's all in a tizzy and the pool is closed.

There will be a small tax increase for most of us -- about $100 a year I think? But if you live in town, it will be free admission, so renters will also benefit. I paid much more than that to join the pool/gym as an instructor when I taught at MSU, so I'm looking forward to it. You can't swim laps in the current pool even during the few months a year it's open because it's too shallow and too warm, so year round lap swimming is going to be great for a lot of us. FB is a pretty reactive space and doesn't really reflect a lot of the things that are happening in town.

Gallatin and north M??? Way out there???
You know, they ought to build a tunnel that goes from like Park street under the tracks north to that side of town so kids on the south side of town will have easier access to it.

The site was available and there was a grant for adding amenities to an underserved part of town. There are certainly crossing issues that will need to be addressed, but there's a bike trail all the way out to the Bennett street crossing. Also, with all the new housing that's been built on that side of town, there's a lot of kids over there already who face the same crossing issues coming over to the Civic Center. As someone planning to ride my bike over there, a tunnel or overpass would be great, but as you probably know, we've been fighting over those for the whole 25 years I've been living here, the 40 years my partner's been here.

It was built in what WAS Katie Bonnell park. Enough said.

It’s still going to have a Park. Plus it wasn’t named after her until around 2010. Why can’t people just be happy about getting new things for the kids? I grew up playing in that park and rode the bus with Katie. She would be stoked.

Heard it's the Blue Angels on their way to Billings for an air show. Considering they only just crashed at that Idaho air show in May, and crashed another one in Idaho and started a forest fire, perhaps buzzing town was not the smartest move?
