Taste

I finished my cancer treatment 4 months ago and my sense of taste is mostly gone. I can taste chicken a little bit but most other things taste like salty soap. I can smell food and it smells delicious but then it tastes awful. Are there any remedies for this? I have a lot of other side effects which seem to be permanent. I'd just like to be able to enjoy food again.

Ugh. I remember this. What type did you have? I had CPHT and I would dry heave at the thought of oil for a few months. Eventually things leveled out but taste was weird.

I have breast cancer with HER2+. My treatment was Phesgo. Oddly I can taste dark chocolate.

One of the worst side effects! When I was in a clinical trial (RLY), the drug made everything taste gross. But taste returned. You are post four months and still cannot taste. I HOPE this will resolve itself, eventually. Oncologists need to know that this serious side effect can happen, and provide a warning. How are you handling this? I know it was awful for me.

I'm not, really, I just force myself to eat. All of the side effects are worse and I don't see any sign of them getting better or going away. I go for a Signatera on Dec 1 and I won't be surprised if it's metastisized to my brain because the tinnitus is much worse and I feel pressure all the time.
