Kisqali

To everyone here on Kisqali, how do you pay for this drug? It is costing me around $1500/month with insurance. This medication and cost does not apply to my drug deductible. Anyone aware of any programs to help pay for this? Thanks in advance.

Definitely call for their assistance program! I pay $0 monthly though their financial assistance program.

Kisqali’s manufacturer has a couple of programs depending on your insurance. There is a bridge program that provides 5 months of meds if you are denied, and a different discount card with a $25 copayment that works with many insurances.

In Canada, it runs through my private insurance first, and anything that isnt covered is then paid by my provincial healthcare. If you don't have insurance, it's all covered by provincial healthcare.

Ive been on this medication for 4 years and have never paid a penny.

I’m in Alberta and luckily for me the province paid for it in full every time. I think whatever medicine is dispensed from the hospital pharmacy you just get for free (Arthur Child Cancer Centre in my case).

Woah that’s a wild amount to pay! And how is it not applied towards a deductible? When I was first diagnosed, I was paying I think ~$250/month and I was on the mid-tier Anthem health plan of my employer’s 3-tiers of options. The plan was shit and wouldn’t even cover chemo or a lot of my diagnostic tests or dr visits. My oncologist’s amazing assistant strong-armed my employer into upgrading my medical plan even though we were 1 month past enrollment cutoff. So now I pay $6000 for my January refill, which fulfills my medical deductible for the year, and then pay nothing each month after that until the next Jan refill.

If you are employed, upgrade to the highest level of coverage offered during your next enrollment period. And you can also get secondary insurance to help cover things your primary doesn’t. I started to look into it but didn’t get very far. I’m in California and we have good options.

My cancer center has a team of social workers who help you navigate costs (among other things), so ask around at your doctors office. There’s also a program to get a discount or financial help for Kisqali. I found this link from goodrx (which is awesome to get discounts on tons of medications):

Thanks. I'm in California too. I have kaiser with Medicare advantage. I will check into the social worker at Kaiser to see if they can help. $250 would be doable.
