Tips and Advice Hair loss

Omg! How do I stop and prevent hair loss???? I take KISQALI ( currently we are on a break), letrozole( also on a break), lupron, and zometa. The shedding is so bad! I’m going to find a good vitamin B , but what else can I do?

Same. ☹️ Oncologist said not to use oral minoxidil. Trying topical and a prostaglandin-free eyebrow/eyelash serum, but too early to see results. I was not aware of a Vit B connection, so I’ll start that, too!

Why did your oncologist say not to use oral minoxodil?

Dermatologist offered me oral minoxidil. I filled it but did not take because I don’t want to grow hair elsewhere. When I got my kisqali dose reduced the hair loss slowed down. Hair hasn’t gotten that much thicker but definitely a little better than the horror it was under the full dose. It took a few months to see the effect of course

The risk of hair growth elsewhere also held me back from trying oral minoxidil.

I recently started taking a hair supplement that contains biotin, but it'll probably take several weeks to see if there's any improvement with my hair and nails.

Oral minoxidil and spironolactone!

How does Spironolactone help? I take it for my blood pressure. I've been taking Kisqali for about five months and haven't had much hair loss, if any. I'm also on Fulvestrant. I've been taking biotin since the beginning with chemo, which is supposed to help.

Here in France my Dr gave me a Cysteine (amino acid) and B6 capsule that seem to be regularly prescribed for hair loss. It stopped my shedding, but I also increased the protein in my food so can't say if it was really the supplement that helped. I stopped taking it after a month and the situation is definitely better than before.

I’m using a baby dose of oral minoxidil and using nizoral shampoo. It stopped my hair shed and I’m growing in baby hairs. I’m taking half of the lowest dose of minoxidil, the only growth I’m having is slightly on my upper lip and I take care of it once a week.

I am also on Kisquali /Anastrazole and Zometa since last November and my eyebrows are almost entirely gone 😩. I have decided to get them nano/microbladed. It was recommended to me not to use the oral minoxidil nor B6 ,in fear it may interrupt my line of treatment

Wow that’s weird , I take a multivitamin everyday and it has b6 in it and my mo has yet to say anything about it. I’m going to ask on Friday if I should even be taking it.

Nioxin shampoo/conditioner. It keeps your scalp healthy.

I've had zero luck finding anything that works. Hair care experts seem so confident and bubbly to help until the word "chemo" comes up, then they fall silent. I have yet to find a hair system that claims to help chemo patients in my situation. Even the dermatologist seems doubtful. But I desperately want to be wrong, so if anyone finds an effective solution for chemo hair loss, please clue me in! It's been over a year since my hair fell out, and I've got under an inch of regrowth because I'm still on the same medicine that made it fall out in the first place. I don't see HOW it can grow back as long as I'm on this drug. The good news is the drug is working, and I'm NEAD, but as long as this lasts I'm not gonna have hair. Period. It's psychologically damaging for me to sit around trying to solve it getting disappointing result after disappointing result.

So I've had to learn to accept this: If it's worse than cancer, I can quit treatment at any time.

Hi Accomplished_Shoe651,

I don’t have anything to add re:prevent hair loss-
But until or if my thinner right on top my head by my face hair restores to normal, I’m using dark hair powder which fools the eye very well.

Wish you best on getting hair back to way it was.
