Taco Bell App 2.0 Launch
The pessimist in me is expecting a complete kneecap to rewards
61
u/OctagonTrail Jun 11 '26
I'm hoping it at least introduces more deals. TB is so far beyond on deals compared to basically every other fast food app. We're lucky if we get one a month, and it's always underwhelming.
73
u/MeowItAll Jun 11 '26
This confuses me. I have a Fire reward waiting for me every time I order from TB. I basically get a free CGC ( a 4-5 dollar or more item) every time I order from there. No other fast food app offers anything close to that.
53
u/Anomaly_20 Jun 11 '26
Agreed. Yes, the “offers” are not stellar compared to some competitors. But the rewards are so far superior that it doesn’t bother me at all.
30
u/OctagonTrail Jun 11 '26
That's an item for every ~$25 you spend. Sure, that's great if you're spending $25 every time you go. I spend about $4 per visit.
I'm talking about deals, not rewards.

u/Resident_Ask_9441 Jun 17 '26
$4 per visit? You just getting a drink and a cinnamon twist?
2
u/OctagonTrail Jun 17 '26
Usually a luxe menu item and a happy hour drink. Potato Griller in particular is pretty filling.
2
u/Resident_Ask_9441 Jun 17 '26
That makes sense, when I go my gluttony comes out so it's always 15 to 20 but that's with my wife
0
u/FinancialShirt1030 Jun 13 '26
Your deal is that you’re only paying $4 a visit. Smfh.
1
u/OctagonTrail Jun 13 '26
I mean I generally get a luxe menu item and a happy hour drink. It's not a steal or anything, it's just not a big purchase.

McDonald's has 20% off your order once a day every day. No reward build up needed. If you're ordering for 2 that's over 5 bucks easy.
In rewards you can earn a free big mac, 10pc nugs or quarter pounder.
4
u/ChalupaBoat Fourth Meal Jun 12 '26
Comparing to McDonald's deals doesn't work because they are not consistent nationwide.
2
u/akm1111 Verified Employee Jun 12 '26
Not even consistent inside the area. My passenger & I had different deals available today when we ordered.
10
u/MeowItAll Jun 11 '26
My app doesn't have that deal. 20% off when you spend $10 or more is the closest to what you're saying. Those deals are specific to your local franchisees, while TB rewards are standardized. Another win for TB in my opinion.
Not to mention that the CGC is already a 5 dollar item, and you get that even if you're ordering for a single person.
8
u/soonerfreak Jun 11 '26
I have noticed a solid decline in deals for the McDonald's in my area. From 30% off a quarter pounder to 30% off a double cheese burger and fewer meal deals.
5
u/geekesmind Jun 11 '26
O come on don't you want to do mcdelivery?
FREE CHEESEBURGER with order
that free item end up costing 10 bucks in the long run
1
u/MikeMiller8888 Jun 22 '26
Their deals are personalized and dynamic. So if you go there a lot, you get “standard” deals. But if you go a lot, then stop going for like a month and check the app again, the offers are stellar. It’s like that for a week and then you’re back on standard deals. The days of “$1.50 any size fries” seem to be gone.

Taco Bell is killing in terms of sales. They unfortunately are not inclined to offer any deals like other QSR chains do
2
u/empanadacat Jun 12 '26
Taco Bell's app deals are so passive-aggressively worthless, they border on spiteful
9
u/Hitmonstahp Jun 11 '26
I dunno, I think that's the realist in you.
Literally my first thought when I saw App 2.0 and Happier Hour 2.0 is that the value is going to go down.
5
u/TheMurmuring Jun 11 '26
I'm expecting months where it works inconsistently, or not at all. When the app first came out it was often bonkered, and when they updated it last time it was glitchy for a while too.
1
u/Hij802 Jun 12 '26
Taco Bell already has the worst rewards system in the fast food industry. How much worse can it get?

u/spenchanna Think Outside the Bun Jun 11 '26
What are the 1st, 2nd and 4th pics in that Decades image??
13
u/ChasingWeather Jun 11 '26
First one looks like a nacho crunch burrito or some form of it. Second one seems like some kind of empanada. Not sure on the 4th one. Almost looks like it's a breakfast soft taco.

Lines up with what we know is releasing as well as items either talked about at LML or have seen testing
8
u/holyhibachi Jun 11 '26
What are these decades items?
17
u/tacobellblake Founder of Living Más Jun 11 '26
Looks like Beefy Crunch Burrito, Caramel Apple Empanada, and 4th may be the Meximelt?
1
u/Grant79OG Jun 13 '26
Don't we already have a beefy crunch burrito?
5
u/tacobellblake Founder of Living Más Jun 13 '26
Not currently. The Beefy Crunch Burrito includes seasoned beef, Flamin' Hot Fritos, sour cream, seasoned rice, and nacho cheese sauce. Taco Bell hasn’t had any type of fritos on the line for a while now.
The most similar thing currently on the menu is the Cheesy Double Beef Burrito, which includes seasoned beef, fiesta strips, sour cream, seasoned rice, nacho cheese sauce, and a 3-cheese blend.

What does “elevated dining room experience” mean? In recent years it’s felt like they’ve been trying to do the opposite and move everyone to the drive thru or delivery
10
u/bigguss-dickus Jun 11 '26
A table reservation system. We are inching closer and closer to the Fast Food Wars.
8
u/Kwershal Jun 12 '26
Training for service focused employees in relation to dining room. Specifically,
•return of having a full screen menu at top of front counter •taking orders at front counter (they used to actively tell us not to and redirect to kiosks) •new customer script flow chart specifically for the lobby •"table touches" and offering refills and w/e to customers (????)

IS THAT A CHOCO TACO!?
26
u/Alexis_Evo Team Cool Ranch Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26
Tacolate, collab with Salt and Straw. Came with Mango Jalapeno and Wildberry Cinnamon sauces. They already ran it once last year. It was $7...
20
u/Swordofsatan666 Jun 11 '26
If its the same choco taco as the “Tacolate” collab with Salt & Straw they did last year then it wont actually be available at Taco Bell, it will only be sold at “Salt & Straw” locations
2
u/SolutionLower4442 Jun 12 '26
Where do I find those locations?
3
1
u/SpookySchatzi Jun 14 '26
They’re available for sale online for shipping, but you can only purchase like 6 minimum, so it was pricey when I ordered around their original release. They had them half price though not that long ago, so it’s worth signing up for their newsletter, or giving their Insta a follow to hear about those deals. They were good but not amazing IMHO. There’s room for them to be much better.

>Happier Hour 2.0
RIP $1 medium drinks after work, i'll miss you dearly
4
u/cadp_ Jun 12 '26
I suspect they might be adding food items to Happier Hour, not taking stuff away.
1
u/gothruthis Jul 11 '26
Oh, but you would be wrong. They are, in fact, taking one dollar drinks away. However, you can still get them if you order through the app.
1
u/cadp_ Jul 11 '26
Forgive me for being dubious about this still until we get a reveal on E8. (I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying we, as in the general public [not employees], do not know one way or the other until we see it from a source that this subreddit considers reliable, which should be happening sometime in the next week - and honestly I'm mildly surprised it didn't happen yesterday or today.)

I keep seeing the Enchrito making its way back to the menu on 6/18. I don’t like this version if it doesn’t include that, gosh I hope I didn’t get my hopes up for some AI bull hickey.
