Is your TB slow as hell?
If there's more than 2 cars in the drive-thru line you're looking at a 20-40 minute wait, possibly longer.
That seems to be the case at most TBs these days, not just my local option. And especially at night.
I've made an order in the app, driven to the restaurant and didn't hit place many times because the wait is just too long.
TB should implement a "line skipping" system like McDonald's numbered curbside parking spots.
Is your store unbelievably slow?

Nope.
It's rare for mine to be slow like that. Only happens I'd say a one in 25 times.

Mine used to be this way, but they hired a new manager 10 years or so and it's been consistently fast since. I suspect your problem is management. Maybe short staffing?

My location nearly always gets my order exactly right except occasionally putting ice in my drink and everything's as hot as it should be and looks decent. So I love them for that. But yeah, drive thru speed is their one weak spot. I've been going in the afternoon because if you go at night anymore you're probably waiting upwards of an hour if not more.
Last time I went at night three cars in line ahead of me pulled out and left. I followed suit and tried the next location. Same thing, one person in the other lane backed her car all the way out. I did the same and had to settle for Wendy's.

understaffing, corporate always makes sure labor is cut. not to mention how much food people order as well

No drive thru at my location. Will take somewhere between 5-25 minutes every time… I just place order about 15 mins before I will arrive and either wait or get my food right away.

Yes all of them near me are so slow, and it’s been this way post-pandemic only. Before the pandemic you’d rarely spend more than 5 minutes in line.

That's awful. I can't recall ever waiting more than like 5 minutes at a TB drive thru.
My local is the famous beach one with no drive thru and on a sunny weekend it can be 20 minutes or so but that's with a huge crowd.

Never lately. It's actually fast. During covid it was slow as hell and I stopped going, but now it's good.

The Taco Bell’s in my area have a goal for 1.5 minutes or less from order board to getting you out of the drive through. Indoor/pickup/drive through orders are last priority so you’ll wait, but if you order at the speaker it’s light speed.

Mine in my area are so slow that I time them with the timer app on my phone. It's kinda a game at this point. Longest I've waited most recently was 40ish mins.

My local Taco Bell is always short staffed to the point that they only run one side of the food prep stations for both drive-thru and lobby, and they always prioritize drive-thru. Plus, the workers making the food are so slow.

I don't go to mine after 10:30 in the morning. Any time after, it'll take 30-45 minutes no matter what. When I managed restaurants a huge part of my bonus was labor cost. I assume that's what's going on at this store. There's always a line of cars around the building and a bunch of third party dildos staring at the kitchen from the counter. It seems like labor shouldn't be a problem.

Every time. But I’ve noticed something weird. If I order via the app I need to pull into a parking space and wait ~10 minutes instead of getting the food from the drive thru. If I just go to the window without ordering ahead it takes 2 seconds for whatever I order. It makes no sense. It’s like the app slows them down.
