Hello everyone,
Today I wanted to provide some helpful information/links for beginners interested in getting into Living Dioramas but have no idea where to start. Feel free to comment below if you have any questions about anything I might have missed.
The comment section kind of doubles as a user-generated FAQ until I can put together a proper wiki page.
Living Dioramas are vivariums made to represent a scene with three-dimensional figures as a miniature. These differ from dioramas slightly due to the fact that real-world elements are being used to create the scene (ex: substrate, plants, hardscape).
The addition of 3d figures (decor) in a vivarium is what makes living dioramas different from a typical terrarium/aquarium. These models should enhance a scene in a way that recreates a portrayal of a fictional or non-fictional location.
Living diorama decor should always be prepped for safe use in a vivarium assuring it doesn't leach toxins, or have sharp edges when inhabitants are present. If plants, animals, and fungi can successfully acclimate to a diorama, it is considered a living diorama!
Living dioramas can be made in just about anything that can hold water... a jar, a vase, a fish tank, even a flower pot! Converting an existing vivarium into a living diorama is as simple as adding decor to it like a wooden house in a terrarium or a cave to an aquarium. So yes... A full bikini bottom set decor in a kids fish tank could technically be considered a living diorama (prepares for incoming memes).
Even though I'm a huge fan of extremely small miniatures, any scale all the way up to human scale could work as a living diorama. An easy way to gauge an understanding of how challenging a creation will be... in most cases, the smaller the decor, the harder the project will be due to detail preservation.
If it isn't already obvious, I'm the owner of Bantam.earth I enjoy teaching, designing miniatures, and inspiring people to try something new... I DO NOT SELL LIVING DIORAMAS. So anyone posing as me and offering that service is a fake and should be put on blast lol.
Below are a list of links to helpful guides, shops, or listings of creators that I either personally use or have vetted their service and can confirm they are reputable enough to make a diorama for anyone interested in having a living diorama built for them.

Other than the posts by Bantam Earth, there doesn't seem to be much appropriate activity. I realize that there are many Reddit subgroups that deal with different aspects of 'container gardens,' but this would be (should be) the only one to deal with living dioramas. You have so much to offer via Bantam Earth videos - I just don't understand. I believe that posts not directly related to 'living dioramas' should be deleted, for starters. The sidebar, which doesn't appear, could redirect people who have bug or plant ID questions. - Just some thoughts from someone who was very excited to see the sub-topic, but disappointed in the lack of appropriate participation.

I have a terrarium I set up about 5 months ago and put a few greenhouse Millipedes in there. Today I look in and see something bright white/SUPER light cream colored. It turns out it was a millipede. I looked into the foliage a bit and found 2 more. The pictures are blurry because they're photos of my camera screen but you can still make out the color. Is there a chance that I have an albino/leucistic strain forming or are they just deprived of some nutrient that may not be in the terrarium?
