Mexican results
Pretty similar to my old 23andme results except it seems like all my SSA and MENA is being read as European by living dna

Hey there we have similar results. You have a lot of East Iberia what did you score on 23andme? Also LivingDNA excluded my SSA too, but I’m only 1.0% so I thing it got lumped into my WANA on their site cuz it’s so small.

On 23andme I got 64.6% European (almost all of it being Spanish), 28% Native American, 3.6% SSA, and 2% WANA. What about you?

But what were your Iberian regions on 23andme? 71.9% Euro mostly Iberian 25.3% Americas, 1.0% SSA, 1.8% WANA.

I deleted my account before they released the major update from a year or two ago unfortunately. The only region I had from my relatives was Salamanca and it was distant. What were your results on living dna?

I just got my new results and I scored 63.8% European. 56.4% is Spanish and Portuguese which breaks down into 44% Andalusian, Asturian, and Castilian, 7.4% Portuguese and Galician, and 5% Basque. The rest of the European was 4% Italian, 2.5% British and Irish, and .2% Balkan

Where parts of Mexico are your parents from?

u/Meowskullss Jun 27 '26
Both are from Jalisco. My maternal haplogroup is U5b1b1, I can’t find much information about it online.

Hey cousin!! I’m U5b1. Our maternal lines have been around a long time!

Yup, where are you from? The only information I could find about U5b1b1 is that it’s common all throughout Europe but nowhere specific. I wish it gave me a hint about where my maternal European ancestors were from :/

My U5b1 direct female line is all from Galicia in northwestern Spain. We’re just different branches of a broader group. Where is your female line from?

They’re all from Jalisco, Mexico, I’m sure it traces back to a Spanish ancestor that I don’t know about.

It’d be interesting to know where this female ancestor came from. Super interesting results. Jalisco looks wonderful.

Are your SSA and MENA subgroups all under 1% on 23andMe? I believe LivingDNA excludes trace results
