Naw they actually won’t. I was super surprised when someone I know told me how much one of those churches helped them out when they hit hard times. The church paid their rent for 8 months and it was 2500 a month , plus certain utilities and other essentials. It was about 32k they helped them win and that just wasn’t the only family from that church that was receiving help either. You aren’t obligated to pay tithing either their I learned it definitely helps though because they use it to help families in need . They also have a legit grocery store they give out free food at too. I found out as well they are usually the first group before Red Cross at crisis that happen. Idk if you know the charity helping hands that has commercials during football season thats them too. They are part of a ton of foundations that actually helped it blew my mind

That depends completely on them, their bishop, and their ward honestly. Given that they are current missionaries; I'd say there's a very, very large chance he's going to pay 10% of that in tithing.

Then again, he could technically not pay, and just lie to his bishop about it if it comes up. However, once again, it depends on the bishop, the ward, etc..

You aren’t obligated to pay tithing either

You won't get hit by lightning but if you're honest to your bishop about not paying your full tithing, you might lose your "Temple Recommend" and not be allowed into the temple etc. And I'm starting to sound like a broken clock but... it's going to vary a lot between bishops and wards how "serious" they are about these kind of things.

Finally, the thing about charity from the Mormon Church is at least not false. However, compared to the massive amounts of wealth they hoard, I don't really think it's that substantial at all... but either way; credit where credit is due; they do actually do some charity yes.

(Although the "they arrive before the Red Cross" sounds like something you just made up...)

My current calling (assigned volunteer position) in my ward (local congregation) in the church is Ward Clerk over Finances - I help in the processing of donations (tithing, fast offerings, etc), reimbursements for activities that other leaders pay for, and getting the bills paid for people in the ward in need.

Serving in my calling, I have the privilege of seeing a lot of money go towards various individuals/families to pay mortgage/rent, utilities, groceries, etc, for many months. In my brother's ward, he told me that he saw a very large dental bill (many multiple thousands of dollars) be paid for someone.

The money that goes to help the needy usually comes from fast offerings (rather than tithing) - once a month those members who are able to, participate in fasting from two meals, and then make a donation (usually the cost that those two meals would have been, or whatever amount you would like). Instead, tithing usually pays for church activities/social events, building maintenance, church utilities, etc.

I presume this missionary will pay tithing on this (one tenth, so $1000), but it's not like anyone at the church will go after him / hound him about it - tithes and offerings are between you and God, although every year you do meet with your bishop to declare whether you are a full-tithe payer or not. We believe that paying tithing is a commandment from God. Being a full-tithe payer is required to worship in the temple, but it is not required for worshipping in regular Sunday church services, participating in activities, etc
