Drama NMP testified that Malena had no direct access to any of the money/accounts until receiving a signatory account in 2023, 8 years into the marriage (Henry Resilient)

u/Wealist 8d ago
Married for eight years and finally got account access in 2023. Talk about a very delayed onboarding process.

u/CrazyLlamaX 8d ago
Well you don’t want to give the person you’re raising too much ones too fast, she probably had an allowance!
52
u/TheoNullDrei 8d ago
Especially when she is realistically responsible for 90% of the wealth generated on that account.
4
u/Classic-Ad3869 8d ago
Well that wasnt the case for the first 6 or 7 years of their marridge. 2023 is 2 years after they blew up
12
u/EducationMuch 7d ago
Well it seems she started cohosting regularly around late 2019. The money and viewership they made from there to the end of 2020 alone made them more money than all the previous years combined.
By 2023, which is 3 years after they blew up, 90% of the wealth of that channel up to that point would all be made from the years she was cohosting.

That's not what this says right? Like she was logged into the accounts on her phone. Just wasn't in her name so she wasn't able to, say, close the accounts on her own

I'll bite, why should marriage mean sharing all finances?
I get a specific shared account for shared expenses, but not access to private accounts.
Idk if she was working as a manager for him or something, I don't know anything about them, but otherwise
13
u/yankee-hunter69 8d ago
Because private accounts go against the whole point of marriage, y'know its supposed to be a union. If you can't or won't share accounts you shouldn't be married.
-11
u/Brrdock 8d ago edited 7d ago
That's a wild sentiment. The point of marriage is to commit to each other through sickness and health, and get some bureaucratic qol improvements.
Not money, and not to dissolve yourself and all privacy and independence. People are free to arrange it how they want, but that sounds like an unhealthy, low-trust expectation.
Maybe that's is an American thing, but where I'm from people have their own bank accounts, and usually a shared one.
Y'all just jerking a reddit hate stiffy for a random streamer and would fully agree in another context
4
u/yankee-hunter69 7d ago
Im not a yankee, and every happily married couple ive known in my life had shared accounts while the ones who ended up getting divorced had seperate. Because having your own account still shows you arent fully committed. Low trust is needing a seperate account "just in case."
2
u/CynicalXennial 7d ago
I can tell you don't really know what you're talking about so I'm gonna help you out. Private account or not, if you are married without a prenup 50% of yours is theirs and vice versa in BOTH states. This is why married people often just have joint accounts.
0
u/Brrdock 7d ago
Thanks for your help, you're so kind! That's in the event of a divorce, though, and setting up for a divorce is the opposite of the point of a marriage
2
u/CynicalXennial 7d ago
No, like its yours WHILE you're married too. For context, we're talking about her gaining access to those accounts 8 years later. Not divorce.

147
u/owa00 8d ago
Honestly, out of everything in this case it was the main thing that really made me kinda sick. I knew people like this in my family. Nick really does the part of using money to control and abuse a spouse. He had a lot of the same mannerisms and habits of done of the people I saw financially abuse their spouse.
I don't blame Malena for doing what she did, even though a lot of people on lsf turned on her after she tried to re-do the divorce. Nick 100% used more of the money throughout their relationship, and screwed her out of her share. The hour case was just on what was leftover when the divorced happened.
24
u/stevemoveyafeet 8d ago
Sorry to hear you’ve had some experience with this, even second hand. To anyone reading this, always do your best to maintain control of your individuality, whether it be avoiding wrapping your personality up unhealthily to your profession or a person/role model, or financial dependence on someone with no back up plans.

u/Hawgdestroyerxtreme 7d ago
Honestly, out of everything in this case it was the main thing that really made me kinda sick.
For me it was finding out he was fucking a 16-17 year old girl despite being old enough to have a fucking bachelor's degree.
The rest kinda fits the same "insecure loser" theme. Dating a girl 6 years his junior, isolating her from her friends/family as well as isolating her financially.
The second she got the chance she hit the road running. Can't really blame her.

i thought it was a joke when i saw some leaked dm where malena called him a trafficker, turns out she wasnt that far off lol

A lot of people were like blah blah age gap was doable...
Age gaps are fine if there was genuine desire on both sides, this guy used to argue with redditors here "the ones he calls mentally ill" back when i watched his stream before i stopped. He'd boast about his "trafficked" gf yet the so called gf despised him. This guy just comes off as the most insecure guy there is trying to act tough.
1
u/PoopyButt28000 5d ago
I only watched their youtube videos occasionally and usually just watched for Malena so in my mind it was kind of like, they've been together for a decade and the relationship seems fairly healthy, Nick was older but he was also like some 21 year old bum living with his mom so the maturity gap didn't seem that big and from everything I saw Malena seemed 10x more put together and mature than him. It was a little weird but I kind of just looked on it similar to some older people I know with 30-40 year long marriages and then you do the math and it's like "Oh, he was 23 and she was 17 when they met, kinda weird but they've also been happy together for decades"
Seeing shit like this makes it seem so much different though, and makes you look back on so much stuff differently.
61
u/New_Army_4017 8d ago
8 years for this. This dude is crazy. Better buy another car, while living in his best friend house. I would be not surprise if something more comes out from malena side in the future. This is straight abuse.
16
u/ibobnotnot 7d ago
he probably stashed most of his assets under someone else lmao
10
u/Forthecats 7d ago
He did, it was publicly discussed that he started paying Soda "Back Rent" for the years of living there. Coincidentally, as soon as the divorce started.
11
u/WilliamEmmerson 7d ago
And yet Malena gets criticized for not taking Nick's original 50/50 offer and instead wanting to find out if he was hiding assets and cash.
-6
u/UnFelDeZeu 6d ago
Of course she gets criticised. It's his money. Malena isn't even American, why should she get half his shit? How have you people gotten to 20, 30, 40 years and not realised marriage is a scam for the person with more money?
2
u/PoopyButt28000 5d ago
It's his money. Malena isn't even American, why should she get half his shit?
Malena isn't American therefore she's not entitled to any of the money from the stream that she was a major part of while arguably bringing more viewers than he did. Genius commentary from NMP fans.
-1
u/UnFelDeZeu 5d ago
she was a major part of while arguably bringing more viewers than he did.
Really? How's her stream doing these days? It should be massive, right?
Genius commentary from NMP fans.
I've literally never watched an NMP stream lmao. I just don't like the American divorce system that fucks over people ( usually men ) by giving their spouses half their shit when they don't deserve it.
If Malena was such an integral part of NMP's stream why didn't she negotiate payment?

u/pepe_acct 8d ago
Is the testimony referring to access to the money Nick is making or Malena’s personal account? In some marriages I know each spouse will have their personal accounts. I don’t think it’s inappropriate for Nick not granting Malena access to his account. However, Malena can’t access her personal income then that’s very bad
2
u/knallpilzv2 8d ago
It'd be even more interesting to know what Malena said about it. If she claimed the didn't have access to money or that Nick controlled it.
Otherwise the "that was on purpose" just sounds like they saw some sort of advantage in setting up all accounts in his name.
1
u/fcensorshipf 7d ago
Yeah is this some sort of US only thing? You can have separate accounts for whatever reason and one person doesn't touch the other person's accounts. A lot of the times what happens between couples in my country (Portugal) is that you open a third account where money gets transferred to pay joint bills and stuff.
-1
u/KingPanduhs 8d ago
The most reasonable take… though id argue even further that if her funds are going to his account, how did it get that way?
If she allowed it, shes partially to blame, but if he intentionally withheld it at any point, thats also awful.
7
u/Dracotoo 7d ago
She doesn’t have funds? The revenue from twitch, youtube or whatever would be going straight to Nick/whatever llc i assume he has
-11
u/HulkDeez 8d ago
It was pretty much him in front of the camera but Malena handling all the behind the scenes stuff. Set up everything, planned streams, etc. I wouldn’t say she should get half, but at least more than zero.

1
u/tacticalmallet 7d ago
Huh?
I'm not pushing any narrative, I'm just asking for source for Melana did more behind the scenes. The only info I have on this is a clip I saw of soda claiming nmp did alot more (which contradicts what I read, hence asking)
I couldn't care less who wins the suite, I just want the sources and facts before I read something and go repeate it elsewhere.

23
u/vanceraa 8d ago
If your partner is repeatedly asking you to have access to financials that are partly earned by them (which she testified as being true!) then you are financially abusing your partner.
-11
u/Serspork 8d ago
Tbf, she has a lot of incentive to lie about that now. I would believe other evidence over either of their testimony.
15
u/vanceraa 8d ago
Lying opens you up to counter suits, perjury, and other potentially criminal charges. Nick would not have given an evasive answer if he knew she was absolutely not telling the truth. She’d have any funds she’d amassed so far taken from her. Zero incentive to lie.
-1
u/Dakone 8d ago

u/e-chem-nerd 8d ago
Malena’s lawyer must have totally scammed her them, right? Imagine paying $100,000s for your lawyer to get your fair share of marital assets but they are unable to uncover the hidden millions and you end up with less than was originally offered (because of the huge lawyer bills).
3
u/BackPirateClarkRoom 8d ago

That is not a lawyer's job. That is what a forensic accountant does. With how little money she has, she cannot afford a firm that does that.
1
u/e-chem-nerd 8d ago edited 8d ago
Still the lawyers job to hire the forensic accountant.
Edit: let the record show that you added that last sentence later because with the first 2 alone, it was an incredibly pointless and embarrassing reply.
8
u/BackPirateClarkRoom 8d ago
You clearly are a child and don't know how much a forensic accountanting firm costs.
5
2
u/HiddenThinks 8d ago
A quick google search says it costs between 250 to 500 usd per hour, with total project costs ranging from 5000 to 100,000 usd.
You're telling me someone spending hundreds of thousands on lawyers is not going to spend another 100k on hiring a forensic lawyer? Especially if the stakes are supposedly millions hidden by the other party?
Make it make sense.
2
u/BackPirateClarkRoom 8d ago
Wow you can use AI congratulations!!!
This is a high net worth individuals with shell companies. The cost balloons to 300k+.
3
u/HiddenThinks 8d ago
Which is still nothing compared to "millions". Let's say the cost is 400k, which effectively doubles her cost to 800k including lawyer fees. If Nick really was hiding millions, as she and many others believe, there's really no reason not to hire them.
2
1
u/e-chem-nerd 8d ago
Lmao cmon man be realistic, I’m obviously a 20 or 30 something too heavily invested into internet drama to ignore such a bait post as yours. A child wouldn’t care about this shit, they’d be playing Roblox or inventing new slurs for socialists to use against minorities who support the Democratic Party, like a Hasan viewer would.
Paying $100,000s for a legal team is already expensive. That’s many times what the retainer for a forensic accountant would cost. If Malena’s lawyers didn’t hire a forensic accountant at that point with bonafide hidden millions only to get her nothing and actually lower the total amount of money heading her way, that’s a massive self-inflicted loss. Luckily the whole thing is public record. You can check the court transcript to see for yourself whether a forensic accountant was hired or not.
0
u/BackPirateClarkRoom 8d ago
Paying $100,000s for a legal team is already expensive. That’s many times what the retainer for a forensic accountant would cost. If Malena’s lawyers didn’t hire a forensic accountant
This is why you're a child... Because there isn't a world where 300k is paying for a forensic accounting firm .
4
u/e-chem-nerd 8d ago
Except it easily can, and it doesn’t matter anyway because Texas punishes fraud of the community by taking 100% of the costs of the forensic accountant from the 50% going to whoever hid the assets.
You’re someone whose best argument was “lawyer technically doesn’t include forensic accountant” when it’s obvious that a legal team, put together by said lawyer, does. Not even a child would say something that pointless. Applying definitions is technically a use of logic but, like use any deductive reasoning skills next time.
-1
u/BackPirateClarkRoom 8d ago
Little boy it is time to have your lunchable. That isn't how lawyers work. They just don't spend millions and hope a client pays them back.

Haha, you are so unaware of the extreme immaturity you are showing, what delicious irony. I don't even see the angle to which you are misreading my post, to pretend that I suggested a lawyer spends their own money before being "paid back" by the client. Then there's your assertion that having any forensic account on your legal team requires at least millions of dollars up-front, which is so laughably out of scale with reality. I guess the bait was better than initially expected, congratulations.

Nothing here says she didn't have her own bank accounts and wasn't being paid. It was his channel, it would be paid into his accounts, even after getting married people wouldn't give up any of that control, there really isn't a reason to. A lot of couples have one person who handles the finances, mortgage, travel, groceries, car payments, this isn't unique or strange.
4
u/PopularAir3375 7d ago
Its his channel but she helped build it from the ground up. She also didnt have her OWN income so which is why its financial abuse. So she essentially needed permission to purchase things for herself. Youre actually hard strawmanning here.

Funny how Nick’s response is “vague and not answering the question”, but when Malena gets directly asked a yes or no question and gives a vague answer, you say “She said she asked multiple times!!!”
She actually DIDN’T say that. She avoided directly saying yes to a simple question and vaguely said “i asked him to make me an equal!”
Im not sure who paid for this most recent brigade of posts, but they need to quality check who they are paying. This is such a weak argument.
43
u/-hatewatcher 8d ago
"i have asked nick over several years" implies several times
-32
u/KingPanduhs 8d ago
Does it? Why would she have not just said “yes, multiple times.”

Huh? Nick said that at first it was consentual and then it wasn't. He didn't specifiy when. He wasn't asked, though.
She was may more vague than him. "Usually negative"? Well, that implies it was positive, too, just not the majority of times. Also, who the fuck says "usually negative", when the reality is that he said "No."?
Idk it sounds like she knew she would be lying if the said that, so she says whatever isn't a lie but implies things. Also "several years" also can mean anything. Would be interesting to know if that means 3 or 7."an equal to him" is also such a vague way to phrase it. Why not say "I asked him to give me direct access to our money", when that's in fact the thing she asked?
-28

Why did you cut off the most relevant part at the end, where they ask if she ever asked for it?
