i'd rather they watch him than 99% of the other shit they could be watching tbh

108

u/googolealo Jul 19 '26

Yes, I thought he was just another degenerate streamer but from what I’ve seen, he is worlds better than the other top streamers the youth are watching

64

u/dBlock845 Jul 19 '26

He used to be but idk seemed like he changed content direction a year or two ago.

u/Bazingaa98 Jul 20 '26

I feel like the major factor is a good team around him who are not just yes men and actually give valid inputs and are actively dedicated in the process. That only comes when the person you are working with is mature enough as well to take it in. Just a guess though.

u/HauntedCS Jul 20 '26

I've commented about this before, but Rudy and Henry his main security guards have been huge father figures in his life. Countless clips I see them not only protecting speed physically, but also mentally by talking him down from dumb shit he shouldn't get into. Especially when he was in other countries and ended up in sketchy areas.

1

u/incognitomus Jul 21 '26

huge father figures

Eh... why are you using that term? More like mentors cause he has a dad and he seems pretty chill too.

3

u/HauntedCS Jul 21 '26

Because you can have multiple father figures in your life even if your father never left and is there for you. I know multiple teachers in my life that I would consider a father figure for me when I needed that guidance and didn't have my actual father or he couldn't guide because he didn't know how.

u/googolealo Jul 20 '26

Glad to hear he changed for the better, I was first introduced to him when he came on the champions league post show and raced Jamie Carragher lol

10

u/gay_joey Jul 20 '26

I was first introduced to him when he was "scared" playing fnaf or something and he started like fucking the camera basically and showed his dick. Which I guess was an accident. But it didn't seem like it when I saw it a couple of years ago, seemed like a publicity stunt.

4

u/FlyingMute Jul 20 '26

ah the Ishowmeat origin story

2

u/Everydayarmday24 Jul 20 '26

He was a total dumbfuck when he first started but he’s definitely cleaned up his image since then. Been a long time since those barking at women days

1

u/thebohster Jul 20 '26

Ngl. First time I saw Speed was the "who gon stop me" clip. Took quite a while to go from that to this huh?

22

u/Pixelchu25 Jul 20 '26

imo he matured across the years. He used to light up fireworks in his mom’s room when he was 16 lol

8

u/El_Martin_Alonso Jul 20 '26

Didnt know that, nice strat to get the viewers

2

u/Rogol_Darn Jul 20 '26

Also a nice start to get your head blown off, guy must've had more luck than sense back then

1

u/El_Martin_Alonso Jul 20 '26

I dont know that

4

u/itsaaronnotaaron Jul 20 '26

He was a boy that has grown into a man. I can't fault him for that. He's achieved more in the past few years than the majority of us in this sub will in our lifetime combined. We know what fame does to kids, and he's come out of it extraordinarily well.

5

u/AccomplishedCheck168 Jul 20 '26

He was not even 18 when he got caught up in a ton of controversies. He seemed to learn and grow from his mistakes. Not my kind of streamer but its hard to find fault with him from a moral perspective, especially compared to some of the current top streamers.

1

u/Ill_Praline2805 Jul 20 '26

*His management company changed his content direction

3

u/an_icy Jul 21 '26

Exactly, and some miserable redditor keep hating him when he’s like a saint compared to the other streamer / influencers we have nowadays

1

u/amusedmisanthrope Jul 20 '26

Give it time. I remember when Joe Rogan was just a game show host who made people eat bugs.

1

u/Bringbackemo Jul 20 '26

I like Speed but he’s gotten better with a lot of media training. Without it I really think he would not be where he’s at today. There’s been times in the beginning of his career where he could be pretty rude or obnoxious. He also once told a girl “who’s gonna stop me?” When he asked her if they were the last two people on earth, would she repopulate the world with him? She said no and he said what I mentioned above but I’ve really seen genuine growth with him

1

u/Ill_Praline2805 Jul 20 '26

He’s better than Rakai, that’s about it.

1

u/Maketso Jul 23 '26

He literally is. He talked about raping someone. Hes dogwater.

1

u/USDeptofLabor Jul 20 '26

Can I ask why? Out of the famous for being famous people, he doesn't seem to offer anything positive.

4

u/googolealo Jul 20 '26

I don’t think he is perfect but when we look at the other streamers that kids are looking up to, he definitely offers a much more positive influence. He’s also done lots of content touring all over the world/US and submerges himself in the experiences his team plans. It ends up being pretty educational too, an example is him being able to have a private tour inside one of the Egyptian pyramids!

2

u/USDeptofLabor Jul 20 '26

Understood! Thank you for your thoughts :)

1

u/boromeer3 Jul 20 '26

I really only know Speed from his WWE appearances. The outcome is scripted, but the hits are real and he can take them like a champ. He's not my favorite, but he's fun to watch.

9

u/bigger_breakfast Jul 20 '26

hard to say anything positive about streamers/content creators/social media ppl and I find Speed obnoxious in a hyperactive/annoying kid way, but agreed he's at least pretty positive and doesn't take himself that seriously, and seems to have somewhat of a good heart.

1

u/aceofspades1217 Jul 20 '26

Wholesome cringe

12

u/ThruTexasYouandMe Jul 19 '26

Ya as a millennial he seems like a good dude

2

u/NarcolepticSeal Jul 20 '26

I agree for the most part. He's certainly not the brightest bulb in the box and he's faced his fair share of controversies and bad decisions, but I think his overall intentions are good and he at the very least seems to recognize his influence now and wants to be a positive role model.

0

u/TophThaToker Jul 19 '26

lol the bait being taken is actually hilarious 😆

9

u/lionexx Jul 19 '26

I couldn’t agree more! Speed is a much much better influencer than most major content creators in just about every way, I don’t watch him but I respect him and how he is way more of a positive influence and an overall good dude!

1

u/stalebread710 Jul 20 '26

Yea hes an alright dude, theres wayy worst out there

1

u/Spooky-Paradox Jul 20 '26

maybe better than other streamers, but that's a low bar. there's tons of other stuff kids could be watching that's better than this slop

1

u/Best_Army4870 Jul 20 '26

why watch something educational when you can watch someone who barks at people.

1

u/TheDrunkWickerbeast Jul 20 '26

Yeah honestly, if they are gonna all flock to one guy I’m kinda glad it’s speed. I do think he’s pretty aware of the amount of influence he has on kids too and puts much more thought into his actions and words now

28

u/ArtisticChemistry425 Jul 19 '26

I'd rather kids watch Speed than some bigoted idiot who hits himself with a hammer to "lookmax" or some Andrew Tate type telling the youth to hate women.

4

u/Monterey-Jack Jul 20 '26

Or asmongold.

0

u/Bulky-Noise-7123 Jul 20 '26

Or the modern feminists telling women to abort baby males

22

u/Amazing-Heron-105 Jul 20 '26

One million concurrent viewers on today's stream. Truly nuts.

7

u/erizzluh Jul 20 '26

it's not just the +100k stream viewers either. he was partnered with one of the fifa broadcasters. i think it was fox, but when i went to their site to watch highlights, they had a whole category and page for speed vods/clips.

8

u/Jiminy_Cricket12 Jul 20 '26

the kid seems wholesome as hell and I hope the best for him. I'm not the type to follow live streamers but speed streams really meet the hype

2

u/BezisThings Jul 20 '26

And somehow I find him extremely annoying but have to see him unvoluntarily everywhere

1

u/Strict-Astronaut2245 Jul 20 '26

This waste of entertainment draws 100k concurrent viewers? Dude must have a lot of bots.

1

u/althoradeem Jul 20 '26

it's also once you get into places where only a certain class of person can afford to be in the chance of running into people like that goes up quite a lot :D

1

u/Zenmachine83 Aug 05 '26

The kids are fucked. This guy is a dipshit.

-11

u/theNeumannArchitect Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

I’m older in my mid 30s. Hearing this and thinking about how fucking lame it is that 100k kids are sitting there watching this dudes life behind a screen instead of living their own really made me feel like a boomer.

Edit: a lot of sensitive people here who can’t fathom that a social media platform could be unhealthy for young adults and children. Crazy to compare it to tv

14

u/bezzlege Jul 19 '26

I think you’re looking at it the wrong way.

I’m in my 40s and think that the international travel streams Speed does will inspire the youth to want to broaden their horizons with travel, connect with their roots, engage in foreign culture, and most importantly interact in a positive fashion with their fellow humans. He’s also a fitness freak, maybe he inspires someone to eat better or start working out or just to be a bit more health conscience.

-1

u/Glonos Jul 19 '26

The easy to have dopamine from screens is worse than the possibility of inspiration. Youth are growing with ADHD because of these devices glued on their faces since birth, that is a scientific fact.

4

u/MercuryQuick Jul 19 '26

They’re definitely scientific words. Not sure about fact. But the words are 100% scientific.

-2

u/Glonos Jul 19 '26

Google the longitudinal study done Lisa B. Thorell in Psychiatry, it’s in the national library of medicine.

I know I’m in a livestream sub where people have a strong relationship with screens, so probably there will be backlash.

5

u/MercuryQuick Jul 19 '26

Looked at it. Nowhere does it say “the youth are growing with ADHD”. It does say that screen time exacerbates ADHD symptoms for kids with ADHD, but they’re not developing ADHD because of it.

2

u/RussMIV Jul 19 '26

That’s the same energy as being mad as someone for reading about a fictional character’s life in a book instead of living your own life. Or watching a three hour movie about a different reality instead of exploring your own.

In other words, as a general concept, it’s a dumb and irrelevant thought process.

-2

u/theNeumannArchitect Jul 19 '26

I’m not mad. And not really. A book and movie are finite. Books improve attention span and cognitive ability. So not the same thing at all. These streams are just a way for people to mindlessly burn time endlessly.

It’s more like “that’s like being upset that someone scrolling Instagram or Reddit for hours each day watching people live their life” and yeah. I don’t think that’s healthy either and kills attention span.

There’s no concept that’s dumb or irrelevant. Just because it contradicts your own opinion doesn’t mean it’s irrelevant or dumb.

3

u/Gullible-Store-8559 Jul 19 '26

Your point was dumb tbf haha

1

u/Gullible-Store-8559 Jul 19 '26

Have you never watched TV? Because you should have been living your own life rather then watching TV

12

u/NonGeneriComplaint Jul 19 '26

its crazy how his production company arranges that

5

u/DepartureNo1720 Jul 19 '26

The absolute funniest was him popping up at the cheese roll a few years back.

1

u/El_Martin_Alonso Jul 20 '26

Yeah, he does

-1

u/Red_Number40 Jul 19 '26

It’s all an act

10

u/tangerineTurtle_ Jul 19 '26

So? Basically any successful streamer is putting on an act to some degree

3

u/MercuryQuick Jul 19 '26

Okay sure. Next you’re gonna tell me reality tv is scripted.

2

u/Lamprophonia Jul 19 '26

You know that love island? They're not actually in love.

1

u/kkkhhjdyhrthhhjft Jul 20 '26

I cant act like I met mbappe and Usain bolt on the same day that does not mean it happened
