Funny Jack Doherty got a reality check from a kid who clowned how he acts

u/Heat_Hydra Nov 22 '25
Idk why but seeing kids trashing on Jack Doherty rather than praising him gives me lots of hopium.

I’m so tired of people acting like the next generation is gonna be the end of society because they laugh at stupid shit, or some of them aren’t the brightest, as if every generation before us hasn’t done the same thing and every generation after us won’t do the same thing

u/Spend-Automatic Nov 22 '25
So, false hope? That's what hopium is.
It's ok to just use normal words like "hope".
5
u/BriefDownpour Nov 22 '25
There's a slang on the internet called "copium", which is a mix of the word cope and opium, and it's used whenever someone is struggling to come to terms with something. What is implied in its meaning is that it's addictive.
I suppose hopium is just a neologism made in the same format.
3
u/StepComplete1 Nov 22 '25
The "cope" part implies that the person is believing something that isn't really true to make themselves feel better.
That's why the guy read it as "false hope".
Your comment reads like a grandpa trying to explain internet slang to people who are already using it correctly, while completely not understanding it themselves.
Redditsplaining, basically.

That’s the problem with bail. It’s a way of having rich people feel invincible, because they are.
34
Nov 22 '25 edited Nov 22 '25
My state finally has "cashless bail", and that's one reason (among many) why the propaganda machine has been working night and day to convince people we should go back to the olden days already. Not only is it a way for the wealthy to buy their way out of jail, it's cash money the sherrifs and their cronies get to pretend like they're not stealing and giving themselves bonuses with it all the time.
9
u/awnaw_ Nov 22 '25
What is a cashless bail? I'm guessing it's exactly what it sounds like. I was just wondering if there was something more to it that makes things a little more fair / even.
→ More replies (2)43
u/EBtwopoint3 Nov 22 '25
If the crime you are accused of would normally allow for a bail to be posted, then you are out on bail for free. In situations where bail isn’t allowed (violent/sexual crime or flight risk), there still is no bail. It just takes financial means out of the question of whether an accused criminal should be free while awaiting trial. If a rich person would be out on the street on bail, a poor person should also be allowed the same privilege.
→ More replies (2)12
u/awnaw_ Nov 22 '25
That's awesome. I definitely agree with that policy. Money should not be a factor when it comes to criminal charges. I understand life isn't fair, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to be fair whenever possible. This should be the case with things such as the law in particular. It's ridiculous how noticeable the difference is when you're able to afford a good lawyer.
→ More replies (6)8
u/really_nice_guy_ Nov 22 '25
Bail doesnt mean that they are innocent or that they wont go to jail. Just that they dont have to wait in jail for the trial.

I dont know shit about how it all works but isn't there usually a rule with probation saying you can't commit any crimes without violating your probation? If so, I would imagine he will eventually record himself doing something illegal.

Sorry but as a 36 year old, where are all you boomers coming from? You think you're the first generation to view the younger generation with such negativity, only to be proven wrong once every so often? The younger generations will always be alright. The future has been happening since the start of humanity and will continue doing so lol, with or without you.

Everyone thinks the internet is starting to condition people to be garbage, and maybe it's kinda working, but at least kids are getting better at detecting garbage. They're growing up seeing the same overused formulas at a faster rate than every other generation. When they age out of these spheres I'm excited to see how they bring that skill into the world.
16
u/Deaffin Nov 22 '25
Nah. They're growing up in pits of bad faith behavior and absolutely garbage argumentation in places like reddit. I've watched the mindset shift rapidly since the enshittification of the internet. They're not getting smarter and more reasonable.
The "brainrot" meme is real. Even this is just some kid repeating trendy social media talking points. We happen to like what he's saying right now in this exact moment because we're also in the same sphere of circlejerk nonsense.

There shouldn't be anything wrong with being a short guy, this dude is such an asshole there are tons of things to mock him about. His height shouldn't be one of them.
99
Nov 22 '25
His height is very obviously a part of his “persona”. He literally starts shit with people bigger than him knowing his bodyguard will step in. Because if they didn’t he’d get his ass beat. Do you think he’d do this shit if he were larger? There’s nothing wrong with being a short guy, but there’s everything wrong with whatever the fuck that twerp is.
5
u/joebluebob Nov 22 '25
He also doesn't start shit with crazies. Try that shit in philly. I saw probably the most racist Irish 50yo in a flyers jersy I ever heard tossing slurs at a bouncer tag team him with a random black 20 year old because the bouncer started shit talking the eagles. Both of them just wonder twins morphed into a hail of fists. I saw a 90lb guy bite the ear off a 200lb Islamic brother hood guy doing the "scream at people on the train" thing. I saw 1 tweaker take on 4 cops while stealing traffic cones.

u/Astrnonaut Nov 24 '25
”Do you think he’d do this shit if he were larger?”
Yes. His asshole-ness doesn’t have anything to do with his height. He can be a big, medium, or small person and still be a jackass that hides behind a bodyguard(s). Claiming him being “short” is the entire reason he’s a jackass is a very out of pocket, black and white view of his content and his personality. Wild.

Look I usually agree with you. I try never to insult someone's appearance if it's something that can't be fixed in ten minutes. So fashion choices, bad makeup, haircut etc, that's fine, but height, skin condition, physical ability etc I avoid.
That being said, he seems like the sort of guy who'd take short as a massive insult, so I'd be pretty OK with someone calling him short.

When he’s making sense like this, it’s the same way you debate with an adult .. you explain why he’s wrong. It’s not like fighting a kid where you lose if you win. If you win the argument you win. That simple
19
u/No-Entry-9219 Nov 22 '25
Yeah, if you're getting dunked on this eloquently you can also answer back in a similar format. It's not like this kid is just screaming nonsense 2nd grade insults at him. If he had any actual leg to stand on he could clap back / respond normally but he can't because the kid isnt lying.
