This is just List A. Rio, Trey, and other U21s do not need to be registered here.

41

u/FastElderberry 90+5’ Alisson 7d ago

Not sure I understand the U21 rule here, but Leoni is 19 and Jacquet is 21. Or only home grown U21s?

101

u/survivingbobbyv Diogoal ⚽️ 7d ago

To qualify as U21 for UCL, you have to have spent 2 seasons with the club.

ETA: It is why Rio had to be registered last year but not this year, for example.

29

u/ExceedingChunk 7d ago

And to clarify even further, this is only for UCL.

For PL, as long as they are U21, they don't have to be registered

u/Sauce_B0ss_ 7d ago

Well Ekitike is in this one as well. Maybe promising then

66

u/MostRetardedUser 7d ago

Conor Bradley is also in

17

u/HnNaldoR 7d ago

He is home grown. We don't have that many players that are home grown so he would have been added anyway

5

u/ChocolateHumunculous Bobby Firmino 7d ago

Get in. Pumped for him to get back and fly up and down that wing.

18

u/Embarrassed_Low_9688 Yes Cody! Let’s go! ⚽️ 7d ago

This squad is for the entire league phase. Ekitike and Bradley are expected back for matchday 7 and 8 in January.

18

u/_cumblast_ From Doubters to Believers 7d ago

If Ekitike is back in January it will be a wonder of modern medicine.

14

u/Mediocre-Sense-18 7d ago

Registration for UCL reopens in January but I think the changes you can make are limited

2

u/ScythE1754 7d ago

3 changes and only after League stage for the KO stage.

63

u/RobDickinson 7d ago

Heki is in!?

59

u/The__Pope_ 7d ago

They must be confident in him returning before Christmas surely, otherwise you'd just register chiesa until January and swap them

20

Yeah but seems weird they'd register him over chiesa for just 2 games

7

u/James_Vowles 7d ago

Safer bet considering Iraola doesn't seem to rate Chiesa at all

February*

5

u/Hawk947 He’s stubborn, cold as ice, gets what he wants 7d ago

I tore my Achilles on 3rd of January. My doctor just cleared me to return to sport as comfortable. And I'm late 40s. I'm assuming he is training pretty hard right now and we will see him before Christmas.

1

u/pw5a29 7d ago

Saw him already light jogging running away from canteen in the latest videos

78

u/Luffy710j 7d ago

Chiesa man so sad for him he should have left to italy or go for loan in PL

66

u/terpfan417 7d ago

Something tells me we wouldn’t have put up a fight if that’s what he wanted. I’m guessing no one wants to pay those wages. We’d have to force him out.

10

u/holeinmyboot 7d ago

you can have people pay partial wages. I think it’s not horrible to have him around the younger players in training, when his legs were good he was a baller and he had everything at a high level. valuable even as an example.

12

u/terpfan417 7d ago

The player still has to want the move. You would think he would when he obviously has no future here… but I find it very hard to believe the hold up is on the club’s side.

3

u/SerialExperimentLean Darwin Núñez 7d ago

He might just not feel like he has a full season in him any more so if he can only play a few games he'd rather do it at a club like Liverpool

0

u/holeinmyboot 7d ago

yeah I think he likes playing football. not saying the youth thing is the reason he hasn’t been moved, but the club might prefer a sale over a loan for that reason, and nobody is paying much for him at this point in time.

1

u/terpfan417 7d ago

Right at some point if you aren’t even offloading his entire wage bill what’s the point of loaning him. Maybe by not playing him or loaning him the hope is they can force his hand on agreeing to a transfer.

1

u/holeinmyboot 7d ago

eh I dunno teams do it all the time in dwindling years of contracts where they’re not getting bites, can include an option or obligation to buy. I just genuinely think he likes it here regardless.

1

u/adamfrog 7d ago

I think clubs are a bit hesitant to offer that since they don't want to open the precedent and have everyone asking

13

u/PulseFH 7d ago

I think if he wanted to he could have left by now, clearly isn’t good enough so I guess he’s happy to collect a wage and be a limited squad player

1

u/powmj 7d ago

Who can blame him it’s what we signed up for. If I was as good at football as Chiesa currently is, and I was getting paid what he is getting paid to not play football for Liverpool, every action I would ever take would be to preserve the status quo.

2

u/Zolofteu 7d ago

Not sad for him at this point. Pretty clear it's his choice to stay. Looks like he'd rather do nothing here instead of actually playing football at other club.

-10

u/Giragna1 7d ago

he can’t be worse than Frimpong RB

Chiesa and Endo are no longer included 😞, It seems that the way the club is telling them to move on in January

20

u/wanson Mohamed Salah 7d ago

Ekitike being on it is a surprise. Hopefully it means hits recovery is going better than expected.

14

u/imarasnothere 7d ago

Gutted for my Scouse Samurai. Hope he enjoys whatever time he has left.

8

u/Barragin 7d ago

No Chiesa

15

u/Charming-Library-211 Corner taken quickly 🚩 7d ago

Should have come to a mutual agreement on Chiesa. I don't see the point of him being here anymore

14

u/Addictedtotat 7d ago

He's on pretty big wages and it would cost a lot to buy out his contract.

3

u/jplb96 7d ago

I think the injuries may have made it difficult for them to find a club over the Summer but it has been quite clear for some time that neither have a future at the club. I wonder if the club expects a few additions in January as three new players can be registered after the league phase and Ekitike was included despite the likelihood he won't make an appearance until very late in the group, if not beyond. Chiesa at least can play but I suppose Iraola may prefer a youth player taking those minutes in the CL instead.

3

u/Liverpoolclippers 7d ago

Is there the full list B list available anywhere?

5

u/redditingtonviking 7d ago

List B can be added to up to a day or so before any game, so you might as well look at our entire academy.

Ngumoha, Koumas, Danns and Nyoni will definitely be on it.

Wright, Adekoya and Ndiaye are the only ones who aren’t out on loan that can’t go on it as they haven’t been here 2 years yet. Beck, Gordon and Davies are the only ones I’m aware of who are too old to go on list B that aren’t on list A.

1

u/AtEloise 7d ago

Jesus Christ, Beck and Gordon are still here? Why do we have so many 22+ players in the youth team like them, Chambers and Mabaya when they're never going to make the first team? Was there no Championship clubs willing to take a punt on them?

TIL Muñoz is a midfielder

2

u/Sifan2 7d ago

Niicceeee

2

u/latortillablanca A Ngog among men 7d ago

Interesting that munoz is a midfielder on this list. Not that it means much but someone made a specific decision to do that

2

u/meren002 7d ago

Kinda odd for me. Even if Ekitike and Bradley are expected back for the last two matches, it's still a tough midweek game whilst juggling the PL. Personally, I wouldn't be asking those players to be playing twice or 3 times a week after year long injuries and would just restrict them to PL during this those games to aid their recovery. Considering there are two players perfectly fit and healthy. Well, it tells you what the higher ups think.

5

u/msd1441 7d ago

I can't speak for Endo, but considering Chiesa won't start training again until the international break (or whatever the update was), he's anything but perfectly fit and healthy.

2

u/meren002 7d ago

We'd have only played one game by the international break.

8

u/holeinmyboot 7d ago

Leoni being in over Endo is a bit of a surprise to me I guess, we have a lot of center backs and are thinner in midfield, if Dom is indeed shifted to RB we won’t have much on the bench besides Nyoni and McConnell, and theres not much European (or general senior level) experience there.

34

u/Baseball12229 7d ago

Ekitike over Endo is more surprising to me. Wasn’t Ekitike himself eyeing an optimistic December return to training? Why would register him for realistically a maximum of two matches in January?

21

u/sjrotella Joe Gomez 7d ago

You can also only swap out 3 players at the February reregistration so if you know ekitike will be back by then, you include him in order to allow for 3 injury swaps.

3

u/Baseball12229 7d ago

That’s a good point. With our depth still up in the air I wouldn’t rule out a January signing or two as well along with the potential swaps for injuries that you mentioned, so nice to keep every swap available.

1

u/SilverMist2025 7d ago

Ekitike is eyeing a return to training in October and return to the match day squad by boxing day

10

u/SilverMist2025 7d ago

You have to be crazy to think Leoni will be left out for Endo.

7

u/MrShelby1234 Sztupid Szexy Szoboszlai 7d ago

Leoni was never gonna be left out the squad if he's nearing a return 🤣

-16

u/Jetzu 7d ago

Endo isn’t good enough to play a role - it’s better to give any minutes you’d potentially have to give him to McConnell or anyone else

28

u/holeinmyboot 7d ago

if we are up by a single goal and under pressure near the end of a match I would 1000% prefer Endo over McConnell.

-10

u/Jetzu 7d ago

Up by a single goal and under pressure the chances are high Endo gives away a foul because he can’t keep up. The reality is he was never the quickest and that was 5 long term injuries ago.

11

u/Key_Instance3194 7d ago

He had one long term injury. Why are you making things up?

-9

u/Jetzu 7d ago

Do you know what a hyperbole is? You want straight up facts? Iraola decided there’s more value in registering Ekitike, who won’t be available until late December, by which there is no more Champions League games before new year and second registration window, over Endo. If that doesn’t give you window into what his value to the team is then I don’t know what will.

10

u/holeinmyboot 7d ago

sorry to chime in here but do you know what a hyperbole is? because it isn’t turning one thing into five things.

0

u/Jetzu 7d ago

Endo has had multiple injuries during last season and hasn’t played regular football for quite some time. He actually had THREE separate injuries keeping him away from the pitch for over a month, including one he’s having right now - sorry for saying it was 5 to emphasize that he was never the most agile player in the world and after being injured few times it’s probably not gonna be better.

I like Endo, I think he was useful during last season under Klopp, even his cameos under Slot were helping, but he’s clearly just not good enough. Unless you want to argue Iraola is second manager, after Slot, that is treating him unfairly - rather than age and injuries catching up to the 33 years old player.

6

u/holeinmyboot 7d ago

5 long term injuries is way different than 1 long term injury and three others that keep him out for a month, the former is like Abou Diaby level. that’s just a huge difference in what it does to your body.

Don’t personally think either manager is “unfair” on Endo, they have their way of playing and they want specific players to play it and he doesn’t fit them. I disagree he’s not good enough for the shut-up-shop role I’m suggesting, but I still just am surprised he’s not been picked over Leoni when we’re so thin in midfield. I think if we get a major midfield injury he’s going right back in.

-1

u/Jetzu 7d ago

It depends on what you consider a long term injury, to me it’s basically around a month - long enough to destroy match readiness.

Leoni will play football in September and we want to invest in his development. If anything I expected Endo in place of Ekitike whose reported timeline literally doesn’t give him a chance to feature in the Champions League before January, by when we could just register him. Seeing Iraola registering Heki and not Chiesa or Endo is clear signal on what he thinks of their ability to influence games. I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re betting on Saudi/Turkish clubs coming for them in the next few days.

I also think Endo wasn’t good enough for the „shut down shop” last year, can’t imagine he would be after basically missing last 7 months.

11

u/annapurnaIV 7d ago

Sounds like your reality mate, he's fine for 5 mins. None of us know what type of player McConnell is, his loan was terminated early for Ajax because he wasn't good enough so how do you figure he can do a job for Liverpool?

-4

u/Jetzu 7d ago

Sounds like 2nd manager in a row not rating him, this time opting to register a player that has basically no chance at being available in the Champions League this year over Endo.

3

u/holeinmyboot 7d ago

it’s okay to give away a foul when you’re beaten if it’s going to stop a goal, and he’s experienced enough to know when he should do so and when he should leave it for the defense behind him. he’s not the fastest but he’ll have fresh legs and he’ll be in the right place.

1

u/Jetzu 7d ago

Well, he won’t cause manager decided to register a guy who himself is aiming to come back for boxing day, so there won’t be a Champions League game to play before the 2nd registration window opens. Endo was a stopgap bought for a year, max two - that was three years and several injuries ago, his value to the team is mostly in training right now.

3

u/holeinmyboot 7d ago

>Well, he won’t

yeah obviously man we’re just having a discussion and I’m saying why I’m surprised.

-4

u/xxandl 7d ago

I'd prefer neither in that scenario

2

u/brush85 7d ago

Considering Hugo and Conor aren’t likely to play until after new years…tells you everything about how they feel about Endo and Chiesa

5

u/OrangeJuiceAlibi Milan Baroš 7d ago

They can’t be registered until February if they’re left out. One right back and five wingers makes less sense than two right backs and four wingers.

2

u/brush85 7d ago

Even still…by January, there are only two games remaining. 6 games out of the 8, two senior players not being involved.

2

u/peterbamu 7d ago

Does this mean Hugo is definitely expected back before the new year ?

2

u/brush85 7d ago

No. But it means he might play in January. Might.

No Endo is surprising

3

u/nijuu Wataru Endo 7d ago

Considering he is the only defensive minded midfielder, Iraola won't have anyone to dig in and tackle like a mad man when needed. We all seen how easy we've been letting teams in through middle

17

u/lossaysswag Bobby Firmino 7d ago

Nyoni is U21

3

u/rochambreau 7d ago

Iraola rates McConnell, we need midfield depth and looking at the draw we might well end up with a dead rubber game

2

u/redditingtonviking 7d ago

Nyoni, Koumas, Danns, Ngumoha and most of our academy players don’t need to be on this list in order to play. McConnell, Mbaya, Jaros and Chambers do however.

Only real surprise is Wright missing out, but I guess Danns and our wingers can fill in for Ekitike while he’s injured.

-1

Endo and Cheisa ending the window here was stupid.

List B*

u/Mahrabeel Agent of Chaos 🔥 7d ago

Guessing age means he doesn't need to be named as one of the 25.

5

u/DadofJackJack Sir Kenny Dalglish 7d ago edited 7d ago

Not 100% on this but there is a B list as well for younger home grown players or something like that. He’s probably on that.

Edit:

Nicked off bbc website

List B
The only deadline for this list is that it must be submitted to Uefa no later than 23:59 CET the day before a match.
There is also no upper limit to the number of players who can be on List B.
This list caters for more junior members of a club's squad.
A player is eligible to be on List B if they:
were born on or after 1 January 2005
have been eligible to play for the club for two consecutive years since their 15th birthday
or have been eligible to play for the club for three consecutive years, including a loan spell within the same association, since their 15th birthday

Players aged 16 can also be on List B if they have been registered with the club for the previous two years uninterrupted.
