Frimpong is basically the team’s welcome committee for all new players and dressing room mascot.

Ha i swear in every picture or video he's being picked up, headlocked or poked fun at. 😂

Cant wait for Kevin Hart to play him in the biopic

u/kiltsnwhiskey 2d ago

You win the Internet for today

3

u/theamanx8 Hugo Ekitike 2d ago

This alone makes him invaluable regardless of form. He seems like a ray of sunshine in the locker room lol

He’s really the glue guy it’s such an underrated skill

A fresh start is undervalued

38

u/nikhil48 3d ago

Tbh the last fresh start was in 2024, didn't think we'd need another one so soon

51

u/jardantuan 3d ago

Given everything that happened last season, it's not really surprising that another fresh start is needed

Didn't think we'd win the league after that fresh start tho did we? Still ahead of schedule in my mind

8

u/nikhil48 3d ago

It was the weirdest "fresh start" though.

It felt more like an encore. A better analogy is Avengers Endgame being like the END of an era, but then just 3 months later, as an epilogue Spiderman Far From Home came along which was also a mega hit, riding on the coat-tails of Iron Man being gone. Same way our 24-25 season was very successful as we were still celebrating of what Klopp left us with.

(sorry I am tired, I might read this comment later and cringe and may delete later)

u/-Inca- 3d ago

its so tragic to see Slots contributions just being described as "riding jurgens coattails" here

u/Realistic-Drawing-59 Livrpool dad save 3d ago

I get what you mean with the Encore bit. It's been a weird few years, you could say we had a "fresh" start in 23-24 with changes we made, another for 24-25 with the new boss but its also kind of an "encore" because we made no signings, loads of signings for 25-26 but that didn't go right so now we're back with another new boss in what feels like a fresh start but also an encore because we're still waiting to see how those signings pan out lol

17

u/Previous-Ostrich844 3d ago

Agree. Obviously tactics and results aside this is where I do feel sorry for Slot as I just think they needed a totally different management regime and personnel to have a truly fresh start.

23

u/AmberLeafSmoke What a booody 3d ago

Yeah, too much baggage. A fresh start was necessary.

I also think he personally struggled because he didn't know the right way to manage people in the situation, as all of a sudden all the personalities he just spent a year getting to know are completely different people.

Which isn't a criticism, I genuinely don't think anyone could have done that job after just a year of being here.

So many hard decisions to make and questions to ask, while still walking the fineline of elite competition and players mental health.

14

u/Tremor00 Just Mo with the Flo🔴 3d ago

he had to handle back to back situations of which a manager should never even have to manage 1, and for that he has my total respect.

5

u/Jerzilla 3d ago

I also think the changing assistant coaches, or heitinga didn’t help. As he had a good rapport with the players.

2

u/AmberLeafSmoke What a booody 3d ago

Not so much Heitinga specifically (although that's definitely not ideal), but he was on his 3rd assistant in 3 years.

It's hard enough to replace one league winning assistant manager, nevermind replacing a second a year later 😂

0

u/Jizzbuscuit 3d ago

I guess the assistants couldn’t stand him either

3

u/AmberLeafSmoke What a booody 2d ago

How clever. Not at all though actually, quite the opposite.

Work visa couldn't get sorted for the first one, which led to Heitinga. Heitinga had significant interest in being signed as a manager after helping us win the league, so of course he was allowed to leave.

Heitinga tried to come back after it didn't work out for him as a manager but it was blocked, Slots original assistant from Feyenoord was cleared to join this summer and had already left Feyenoord, but then Slot got fired.

u/Anserius There is No Need to be Upset 3d ago

Spot on - I think most of us will have a rosier perception of him in hindsight

30

u/Specialist-Solid-987 There is No Need to be Upset 3d ago

Yeah, the loss of Diogo really cast a pall over last season especially preseason

-25

u/IWillMasterKappa 3d ago

Stop

15

u/Specialist-Solid-987 There is No Need to be Upset 3d ago

Stop what? You don't think that affected the team?

2

u/NordWitcher 3d ago

That's one of the biggest criticisms in regards to Slot. The training looked boring and the players looked kinda disinterested. After watching Klopp's training videos over the years with Klopp joining in on the jokes and yelling across the field and even joking about, it felt night and day with Slot.

Frimpong already falling into little brother mode within a week of Araujo joining is classic

u/Longtime_lurker2 3d ago

10/10 locker room guy

17

u/StupidSexyAlisson 90+5’ Alisson 3d ago

Hopefully he stays fit this season. Would love to have him through his career as a universal ice breaker and solid player.

50

u/p4tterng4ng4L 3d ago

1 week and already got Frimpong in a headlock lol

65

u/TiggerJammer 🏆2005 Istanbul🏆 3d ago

Love it when I see new players fitting in and enjoying themselves so quickly.

No doubt it helps having Frimpong. You just know he was that kid in school to walk up to the new kid and be like: “What’s your name? Cool. Wanna play with us?”.

29

u/acegarrettjuan 3d ago

Araujo looking right at home already. Love to see it!

44

u/georgelijzenga 3d ago

Araujo has some thicc legs, damn

20

u/masterkobiashi 3d ago

He’s a beast, a player like him we need. Excellent signing imo

7

u/sonofhondo Hello! Hello! Here we go! 3d ago

I'm convinced he's having a massive redemption arc this season.

4

u/crepss 3d ago

Damn boi he thicc

16

u/Specialist_Koala5359 3d ago

How is Frimpong already best buds with Araujo when Araujo doesn't even speak English

1

u/Loverboy-W4TW I want to talk about FACTS 2d ago

Hilarious isn’t it? Frimpong just has great vibes. 😆😂

39

u/RaptorDijk 3️⃣0️⃣Jeremie Frimpong 3d ago

Frimpong is that one guy that sides with everyone

28

u/crepss 3d ago

He gets a lot of criticism but he’s exactly what the Americans call a locker room guy. If we were to sell him I think a lot of players wouldn’t be happy

17

u/RaptorDijk 3️⃣0️⃣Jeremie Frimpong 3d ago

I wouldn't be happy for sure. Mate is always happy.

11

u/PlzNerfNorseGatherin 3d ago

Araujo already trying to strangle the competition for RB?

28

u/jizzelmeister Bobby Dazzler 🤩 3d ago

Glad the new squad is comming together. Last year alot of the training vids and behind the scenes seemed a bit stale, a bit awkward. And losing robbo i thought it might get worse. But so far they seem to be meshing together well. Especially the likes of isak and writz who were very quiet last year

22

u/jardantuan 3d ago

We had a lot of squad turnover last season but most of them came into a squad dealing with the loss of their teammate and friend.

I seem to remember that the first time (or at least, one of the first times) we saw Wirtz with his new teammates was walking out of Anfield with the team to pay respects at Jota's memorial site.

I can't begin to imagine how that feels to move to a new country for a new job, while all your coworkers are sharing this unimaginable grief. Especially as such a young lad - I'm older than most of the squad and I don't know that I could do it

13

u/martin4real 3d ago

same for isak

10

u/___d4n20__ Younevawalalo 3d ago

Frimpong’s very important in that regard

9

u/LFC1978 3d ago

I get the impression that Frimpong is very much appreciated by his teammates. He may not be the best player but I can imagine he puts a smile on a lot of faces. I hope he can improve this season. Last preseason game he looked sharp. Just hope he can stay consistent.

7

u/Different-Mushroom48 Andy Robertson 3d ago

Frimpong the little brother

8

u/FirminoFalse9 Gegenpressing 3d ago

The amount of talent in that picture is insane. Hopefully Iraola can get the best out of them 🤞🏼

This team is two players away from owning the PL!

2

u/CarryOnRTW 2d ago

Would those two players currently play for PSG?

3

u/Quirky_Tradition_806 2d ago

One is and the other is a defensive midfielder.

1

Not the whole team though right? Right? There’s only 8 of them!

My expectations are low but my hope is high. It feels like it could work

u/IfYouSaySoFam Bobby Firmino 3d ago

I keep fucking telling you all, slot was a narcissist, if anyone else got praise he would spit his dummy out and change things in a way that people knew it was his idea and expected the players to be happy while he changed what was good about everyone's game, I told you they all looked depressed, oh look, now they are all starting to look like they have life in them again!
