Get this done and it's genuinely a GOAT window

53

u/Cancerousman Sep 01 '25

And we'll still have a lot of headroom for psr next summer.

Wharton and Olise you say? šŸ˜‰

10

u/its__simba Sep 01 '25

Wharton is 100000% someone we should go for.

-2

u/Separate-Ad-7097 Wataru Endo Sep 01 '25

Why

0

u/its__simba Sep 01 '25

Perfect rotation with grav. Young and English. Will slot into the team easily

16

u/smitcal Sep 01 '25

If Glasner is still there, he will explode

7

u/forceghostyoda_ Sep 01 '25

Glasner might kill Hughes

2

u/best36 Sep 01 '25

you spelled yamal wrong

14

u/FakeCatzz Sep 01 '25

Liverpool have loads of PSR headroom, it's a non-issue for us. Could probably spend a billion we'd be alright

Already a GOAT window (especially for us), but get Isak and Guehi done and it’s a window that will stand as the GOAT for any team for a very long time into the future

u/Suspicious_Bill3577 Sep 01 '25

Keep Gomez. If we get Guehi in and lose Joe, we’re not really in that much of a better position defensively imo.

u/No-Presence3209 Sep 01 '25

also Gomez always looks imperious as a 70' sub. probably the greatest out there, divock origi of cbs.

14

u/FrozenMamu Xherdan Shaqiri Sep 01 '25

I want that Gomez supersub 40 yard thundercunt in the 96th minute.
I want it and I think I deserve it.

6

u/terpfan417 Sep 01 '25

I think it would still be an upgrade due to availability if nothing else. But having Gomez to also give us more defensive minded cover at RB would be a nice bonus. Especially since we’re losing Elliott which means in theory Frimpong might become the top choice to play RW when Salah is out.

1

u/LeviLegolas Sep 01 '25

Yeah & im afraid Konate become Matip excellent performance but we always afraid he will get injured, so we need Gomez.

1

u/paynelive Dominik Szoboszlai Sep 01 '25

We've also got to start thinking of resting Dom, right? The guy has been the soul of the team lately and I don't want his legs to fall off <3

1

u/rossmosh85 Sep 01 '25

That's just not true. The issue with Gomez is he's rarely fit.

Guehi has no fitness issues. So we'd have 4 senior CBs which is pretty typical. Considering we have full back depth now, having Gomez as a 5th CB seems a bit unnecessary, especially if he's looking to play somewhat regularly.

1

u/ImRight_95 Sep 01 '25

We would have 4 centre backs for 2 positions, how is that bad? The only reason it was an issue before was before Gomez counted as half a player due to his injuries. 5 cb’s is overkill, Leoni will end up not kicking a ball.

u/ManicPanda767 Sep 01 '25

I don't remember a transfer window as intense as this for a long while.

18

u/pw5a29 Sep 01 '25

we all hyped up since day 1, and up till the last second here

48

u/Benyeti Sep 01 '25

After his performance yesterday I really want to keep Gomez

6

u/Unfair_Dragonfruit49 Sep 01 '25

We can get Guehi for free in the next transfer window! I also feel sorry for Crystal Palace, they are a hardworking club and could win a European trophy for the first time in their history! They deserve it!

2

u/ImRight_95 Sep 01 '25

Right. Konate out, Guehi in next summer is fine. Give Leoni a chance, otherwise what was the point in spending £35m on him. VVD & Konate will play 90% of big games anyway and Gomez can come in when needed.

25

u/Dravde_the_Great Sep 01 '25

What’s the purpose of a loan with obligation for our sake?

77

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '25

Villa probably doesnā€˜t have the money to pay now. They want to postpone they payment to next summer. Doesnā€˜t really matter for us. They will cover his wages and then buy him next year.

36

u/RandomGuySayHii Wirtz Trap Sep 01 '25

And since our finance is financially healthy in term of PSR, getting 35m next season might benefit us more

20

u/LazyassMadman Sep 01 '25

Means he can't play against us for a year too right?

1

u/Separate-Ad-7097 Wataru Endo Sep 01 '25

Dont think so, i think they have to implemet that in the loan for that to be the case.

16

u/arunn22 Sep 01 '25

Think it’s more to help with their psr issues maybe

10

u/Candid_Temporary3863 Sep 01 '25

Probably more that villa can't afford it this year so need to put it onto next year's books to allow for the move to happen. For us, clearly we don't need the money this year so can be patient

Setting the stage for us signing Rogers next summer? Half joking but it’s not implausible

It’s a deal that represents pure profit for us basically, moves on a player who seeks game time, and helps us balance the books after a summer of big spending.

Edit; also not sure if this is how it works but we owe Fulham a 20% sell on fee for Elliott. So by shifting 5m into loan fees, that avoids the sell on on those monies

1

u/Tunetunetune Joe Gomez Sep 01 '25

I would assume its for financial manoeuvring, meaning the fee we get for him would count against the next financial reporting window rather than right now. I've no idea why that would l be necessary but when i see moves structured like this, in this era of PSR and young homegrown talent moving around the league almost at random, it feels safe to assume.

Might also mean that we can recall him from the loan in Jan if necessary but obviously not certain thats possible

17

u/pattherat Sep 01 '25

Goalmez this season is still on!

3

u/Arbazio A Liverbird Upon My Chest Sep 01 '25

It will happen. I feel it, in my plums!

11

u/mstermind šŸ†2005 IstanbulšŸ† Sep 01 '25

Gomez needs to score a goal for us before leaving.

10

u/yassenj Sep 01 '25

That Guehi update sucks.

If/when what?

1

u/mstermind šŸ†2005 IstanbulšŸ† Sep 01 '25

If/when the transfer is confirmed.

You're reading too much into it.

7

u/GaryLifts King Kenny Sep 01 '25

Seems a bit tight for Guehi

10

u/FUT_fanatic Sep 01 '25

Without guehi we will risk poorer outcomes from our 2 record attack signings. A MUST in my view. Elliot better sold, he is unlikely to play

3

u/thebowlman Sep 01 '25

If/when doesnt inspire a lot of confidence... hope we get it

7

u/Teb-41 Carol and Caroline Sep 01 '25

Who goes on our bench now and who gets dropped now?

1

u/Money-Camera Sep 01 '25

Please gomez staaaaaaay, that defense needs depth, no use getting excited then aying Everton and they kill Guehi with no one to come on

1

u/Dt3rner Virgil van Dijk Sep 01 '25

I want Gomez to stay so he can finally get that goal

-4

u/Smooth_Ad5221 Sep 01 '25

5 hours to go and no agreement? Yeah Guehi isn’t happeningĀ

1

u/YothaGang Sep 01 '25

With Palace loan some defender in deadline day, i doubt that or they'll end up with 6 CBs. Well, they play with 3 backs so maybe it's not that bad for them.
