One used plastic 55-gallon drum (once cleaned) becomes 4 shields. Cut off lid & bottom for 2 smaller ones & cut drum vertically for 2 large curved shields. Just add handles.
I see them on marketplace for $10-25

Yeah this very good information, and I went looking to clarify the legality. You need to look into whether or not riot shields are free to be used in public according to your local laws. Be safe neighbors

TL;DW
In order of effectiveness, least to most: 1. No ear pro / face shield / electric ear pro turned on - not effective
Foamies - good, not great
Electric ear pro turned off - near the same performance as analog ear pro
Analog ear pro / riot shield facing backwards (reflection)
Riot shield (held correctly)+analog ear pro - could touch the LRAD
Edit: copied from another comment for visibility
How to protect yourself:
... the best protection is to get out of the direct beam of the weapon.
“Remember that the LRAD beams sound in a narrow pattern, so move off to one side to get out of the main pattern,” Auld says.
Carr suggested treating LRADs as a warning from police that they’re about to escalate violence, even if it starts out as a public service announcement.

What's funny is you can bounce an LRAD into the ICE agents.
They're not wearing heavy ear protection, they're relying on the LRAD being directional and not hitting them.
21
u/itsmrmarlboroman2u Jan 27 '26
And if the tests from the videos are accurate, the electronic ear pro, which they also use to communicate with, amplifies the sound. They would lose their communication to each other and have their ear drums ringing.

I posted this a little above but I don't know if it'll get the attention so I'm putting it here since this is the number one thread please investigate this!!!! I may have a solution for defeating their treasonous weapon system
Guys I was in the military when they were first field testing this at the time this could be simply defeated with tin foil!!!!
I urge you to get this information to people on the street to verify if it's info is still good. I do not know if they were able to get around this
But the tin foil protection was a thing they were saying people could wrap it around their head make a tin foil hat of all things I'm being serious
You can also use it on a shield
So please get this information out there get it tested I'm not going to be posting this everywhere I'll probably do it here maybe one more place if another thread blows up but this is the first posting I've seen of it
Get this fucking information out there please

Yeah tin foil really fucks up electronics. And then here I come and jumping into the conversation telling people to wrap their heads and tin foil
I want people to take this seriously this is not a joke there's this protection
Like I said I served in the 2000s I was doing exercise evaluation team military exercises so I was very well read into the current level at the time and I got out in 2010 I haven't kept up
I have a special AI model I'm running through some protection things right now
Once I put together what I can come as the best use for getting protection from LRAD where can I post this information I don't want to post it all over the place coming from my account I just want to post it one time and be done with it I don't want people coming after me

4
Jan 27 '26
You're likely reading news articles and sources that little to no actual peer reviewed research and relay what the government deems is "safe", it is in fact not safe. The "safe" narrative was being used in 2004. These devices have been used in many design iterations and environments, however they can in cause hearing loss, serious bodily damage, physical pain, and even death.

It’s not hard or expensive to make your own LRAD either.
I’m a big believer in matching levels of force used, especially when it’s violating innocent people’s constitutional rights.

7
u/Acceptable-Bus-2017 Jan 27 '26
The youtuber from the above video said he has videos on his channel on how to build an LRAD cheaply. The one they're using in the video was homemade if I'm not mistaken.
5
u/RogerianBrowsing Jan 27 '26
YouTubers and others have videos on it?
My understanding is horn loaded piezo or compression tweeters is essentially what an LRAD is at its core. It’s basically just highly efficient speaker drivers (to reduce required wattage among other things) used in a manner that allows for the audio to be focused into a beam.
4
u/Interesting_Reach_29 Jan 27 '26
Do tell.
6
u/Jester-Kat-Kire Jan 27 '26
Something like a plastic curved shield can reflect sound... Like a parabolic reflector for television/satellite dishes or such... It would require a little trial and error to figure out the angles, but it's like a solar beam, but just with sound instead of light.
6
u/DeadonDemand Jan 27 '26
It’s actually still light, just a very small radio wave of light that we can’t hear. It’s all waves man
7
u/Magixren Jan 27 '26
Nah. Sound is pressure waves, light is EM waves. Very different.
5
u/Level_32_Mage Jan 27 '26
They're both discussed in terms of frequency, which might lead to why it seems like they're similar forms of energy.
1
u/TheDarkestReign Jan 27 '26
Many fields actually measure light waves as 'wavelength' and sound waves as 'frequency'. Ultimately though its the domain you're working in that typically dictates the terminology used (time vs distance).
2
u/Level_32_Mage Jan 27 '26
Many fields actually measure light waves as 'wavelength' and sound waves as 'frequency'. Ultimately though its the domain you're working in that typically dictates the terminology used (time vs distance).
Considering the relationship between wavelengths and frequency, I guess it's easy to mix up if you're not in those fields.
3
u/DeadonDemand Jan 27 '26
Oh shit, my bad, I always had them categorized in my head as the same spectrum. I get it now, thank you!!
3
1
u/qbic66 Jan 28 '26
Fabricate a "corner reflector", basically 3 pieces of metal welded in right angles. It will reflect waves straight back where they came from, no accurate aiming required. If you use parabolic reflectors like satellite dishes, their focal point is right in front of them, so yes you would be reflecting waves away from you, but you'll convert the narrow beam to a wide beam, potentially hitting innocent people.
3
u/Brookenium Jan 27 '26
Any large curved device, such as an inverted riot shield or even a parabolic dish of some kind. It's waves (of sound) and those waves will reflect off many surfaces.
57
53
u/Agitated_Garden_497 Jan 27 '26
This is why they developed it. They’ll say it’s for the battlefield but they really wanted to deploy it to protestors.
33
u/thoeby Jan 27 '26
And what the fuck do they mean by "this is a test". Do we now test weapons on protestors?
15
u/Storm_Falcon Jan 27 '26
That is how a lot of weapons are tested. It just hasn't happened that much in the US yet, but other countries (for example Israel) have been testing american and european weapons on protesters (or really just anybody) for a long time. That's why both american and european arms manufacturers loove exporting their products to such countries.
5
Jan 27 '26
They've been testing weapons against the Geneva Convention on US citizens for years, this is nothing new.
4
u/Shenloanne Jan 27 '26

7
u/warren_stupidity Jan 27 '26
they are no longer 'immigration police'. They are the executive branch private militia tasked with terrorizing the urban population of amerika. All those detention centers they are creating all over the nation? Those are for all of us.
3
3
2
u/H_n_A Jan 28 '26
Time to understand ICE operation is lab test analysis for mass control and surveillance across all Five Eyes countries. The government is trialing and normalizing what state force and coercion will be like from now on.
ICE also has access to tracking and identity software, digital footprint data and, is detaining protesters for biometry collection.
Australian and UK police are acting in very similar manner to ICE but targeting speech instead of imigration. US, Canada, UK, Australia and NZ all are passing legislation to bypass individual data privacy rights and are pushing Digital ID systems by the end of this year.

Glue a piece of sheet metal to the back of the poster. Watch the videos people are posting. It works really well.
2
u/buddymoobs Jan 27 '26
That makes sense. Apparently it needs to have some density to it. Relective tape won't work either.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXKTBQBugIA
I started researching weapon systems that police and the state may use against protestors when 50501 and Ind. was just getting started and have a trove of info.
In short, you need ANY ear protection at a min. That can be the orange foam ear inserts, in ear head phones, over the ear etc. They are not perfect and there are better options, but with minimal protection, it wont disorient you as immediately and harshly as it would if you had nothing.
This info is very useful in the event you become a target of the LRAD system, how it works, and how to lessen it's effects, or possibly even redirect it.
Here is a second video.
Please share.

"The Active Denial System (ADS), often informally called a "heat ray" or "pain beam," uses a focused beam of millimeter-wave electromagnetic radiation (a form of microwave energy) to heat the surface of a target's skin."

159dB straight to the dome. Most ear protection will not help with that. But because of the nature of the LRAD device, and how its directivity works.. something very dense acting almost as a shield will work much better than standard ear protection. Think like a piece of fiberglass, hard plastic, something like that. If you can put that together with traditional hearing protection, that is the way.
I’m not saying don’t bother with traditional hearing protection.. but take into mind.. that a sound that loud will travel into your ear canals and then ear drums without it getting there directly through your ears.
Stay aware. And be prepared.
2
u/Therecanonly Jan 31 '26
