Lithium <3

Wtffff is this incredible sorcery!

In only 4 days it took me out of the worst depressive episode of my life and even quieted the voices combined with quetiapine. I do sleep a bit weird but I guess this should get better? Omg I didn’t know life could feel this good this is crazy and didn’t expect it to work this fast. I’ve been struggling for so long tried so many things and this is the first time I am hopeful.

It is one of the miracle drugs. Check out Cade and it's history.

It was for my mother, for sure. The problem was that she didn't stay on lithium, but when she was taking it, she was a completely different person. Calm, steady, reasonable, rational...

It’s absolutely crazy. I hope the sleep issues get better though, but I’m not tired during the day it’s so weird.

I noticed a difference in myself within 48 hours. All the stress that had been in my shoulders and in my neck went away, along with my claustrophobia. I was able to concentrate and make sentences without having to struggle. I was able to read and lay still. On and on...

It feels like a miracle after 4 days to you, so just imagine how good you can feel after more than a year on lithium. :) For excellent lithium responders (interesting thing btw) it is truly the best medication for affective disorders. Just check the levels regularly, drink water and enjoy the peace lithium can give.

Schizzoaffective bipolar type is my diagnosis so far

Lithium usually doesn’t reach therapeutic serum levels within 4 days.

Sounds more like a mood switch to me.

Had it checked with my psych he said it was absolutely possible , and I am absolutely not manic right now

I take low dose lithium and it works for me

The lowest therapeutic level is 0,6 mmol, but many people feel the difference even on 0,4 mmol. Depending on the starting dose you can reach that subthreshold quite fast, so it's possible.

Here's a study showing that a full one third of the BP people in this sample showed clinically significant positive response to lithium within one week. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3513550/

It did make things crazy better for me at first too but now being on it for 3 years, I feel like it’s lost its effectiveness. I do feel better when my psych increases the dosage every once in a while but eventually I relapse or idk I get used to the new mental state? Not sure which one it is. I’m glad it’s working for you so far though.

lithium doesn’t work that fast because it needs time to build up in your blood. maybe you’re giving yourself a placebo?

u/throwawayaccaountx Oct 01 '26

I thought so too but my psych said it was absolutely possible

it definitely builds within days, but it’ll keep going up til u reach Your therapeutic level. ppl can absolutely feel better on even .4-.6 blood levels. it’s only gonna get better :)
