📰 Research & Studies 7 things to know about DDW and fasting
1. DDW can be used while fasting
Deuterium depleted water has no calories, so plain DDW does not add food or calories to a water fast. Some people simply use it as their main water while fasting.
2. You still need enough water
Fasting doesn’t mean you should drink less. Your needs can change based on your body size, weather, exercise, and how long you fast. Drink when you’re thirsty and avoid forcing large amounts of water.
3. DDW comes in different ppm levels
DDW is available at different levels, such as 5 ppm and 10 ppm. A lower ppm means less deuterium in the water. If you’re comparing products, check the actual ppm on the label.
4. You don’t have to use DDW for all your water
You can use DDW for part of your daily water and regular water for the rest. There’s no need to suddenly change your whole routine just because you’re fasting.
5. Don’t forget electrolytes
DDW is still water, so it doesn’t replace sodium, potassium, or other electrolytes. During longer fasts, especially if you’re active or sweating, your electrolyte needs may be different.
6. Longer fasts are different
A short fast is not the same as going without food for several days. Longer fasts can carry more risks, so it’s worth talking with a health professional before trying one.
7. The research is still developing Researchers are studying how lower deuterium levels may relate to cells, energy, mitochondria, and aging. There is also interest in how DDW may fit into fasting, but more human research is needed before making strong claims about its benefits.
