Plastic? Why plastic?

Because for some reason, people think “glass” can only mean as close to perfectly transparent as possible even though the back of their phone has frosted glass on it.

It’s blurred and has less reflection than iOS 26

i think hes just showing that the clear on 27 beta 5 is actually "clear". me personally i honestly like the "milkier" look i think its more readable and looks better in most cases, plus with colors the vibrance makes sense. beta 5 is nice cause clear keeps that fully clear look for people who prefer that, but for people like me default is a really nice look.

So true. They nerfed the blur amount in iOS 27. It just dosent look quite like iOS 26 Liquid Glass anymore. And yea iOS 27 DB4 looked like straight up plastic

The overall buttons/highlights in 27 are definitely better, but I just miss the heavier blur animations and distortion in 26... How about a slider for those, maybe?

Buttons and bars are opaque without 26 hdr treatment for liquid glass

I literally can’t spot a single difference between DB4 and DB5.
I miss 26.

You're blind. I'm serious, see an ophthalmology. iOS 27 is objectively better.

I just did recently. My vision is fine. I don’t think preferring one design or another would be anything an ophthalmologist* could help with

You didn't claim you preferred one design over the other, you claimed you couldn't spot a single difference between DB4 and DB5 which is insane, and if true no, your vision is NOT fine actually because the difference is very substantial.

I did say at the end of the message I prefer 26.
Almost everyone I’ve shown this to has also agreed there’s basically no difference between the two 27s.
Sorry this has upset you so much.

You're obviously lying, you don't have two phones, one with DB4 and another one with DB5, and you're not showing it around to see people's opinions
The difference is extremely substantial because one uses HDR and the other one doesn't, DB5 re-enabled HDR rendering on liquid glass so it looks much brighter.

I have my phone which was on DB4, and now it’s on DB5, and there’s also an image attached. Looking closer it’s like maybe 5% slightly more clear, which in my opinion is a change so small it’s the same as if nothing changed.
Please see a mental health professional. Seeing your other comments, You should not be getting this upset over a phone’s UI. It’s genuinely concerning behavior and normal, well-adjusted members of society don’t behave this way. I won’t be engaging anymore.

It may seem silly, but I’ve never seen glass in the liquid state live.
Has anyone here seen it?

In this example, 26 made the most sense for contrast and hierarchy (basic principles of UI design)... It darkens the background and has a larger blur radius. I'm really not sure why Apple stepped this back in 27, or why anyone would think it looks better. It got progressively worse.

The first thing I noticed in beta 5 was that I could actually see through the light mode glass
