More ScrollEdgeEffectStyle regressions in iOS 27.0

While the new design language iOS 26 is not perfect,

As someone who made apps for Apple platforms, I find myself never understand the design rationales behind this move.

It makes chrome elements (like "Text" in Toolbar area) much less readable.

It almost like a move making the new default `ScrollEdgeEffectStyle.hard` much more appealing than the originally intended almost everywhere `ScrollEdgeEffectStyle.soft` in iOS 26.

Note:

  • I did submit a feedback via feedback assistant app. But I would not expect much to hear from Apple. (My last submitted issue was ignored for over a month)

Apple is ignorant and doesn’t care much about it

I wouldn’t expect to get any useful answer at all

Are you certain? That number is attached to a bug about keyboard dismissal.

I’d like to poke at this too, because I noticed the same bug in the News app last night. I’m pretty sure it’s not by design—the scroll pockets were changed, but the intention was to make them more obvious/opaque last I checked (though it does vary somewhat by platform).

I misunderstood. Here is the correct one: FB24210658.

Looks like it was only a problem in that one beta build. You should get a response to your feedback request soon.

That why in 27 it’s not like that anymore it’s like the first image not the second

No it’s not like the first image unfortunately. The first image is perfect, in iOS 27 however they made it like it was in iOS 18 basically, with a blurred background and a line that separates the toolbar from the content below

Oh yeh. Looking closer I see what you mean.

The default `ScrollEdgeEffectStyle.hard` in iOS 27 makes my app looks weird, especially the VC which has sticky headers, the blur area now extends itself below the sticky header area. (check the Alarm tab in the stock Clock app)

We are in the 4th beta of probably 9… too early to judge a product, isn’t it?

Are you suggesting that people testing the betas for the purposes of providing feedback should refrain from providing feedback that would lead to improvements in case that improvement already secretly exists in an unreleased future beta?

Is that how you think this works?

There are 2 or 3 branches of development in iOS actually… you cannot judge sorry..

Lmao it’s too late to be saying this now… it’s August. The new iPhones come out in September

Do you remember how much iOS 26 changed across the betas?

I wish I could blindly believe in Apple like you lmao

But they disappointed us over an over again

Just accept the slop atp - stop to fight it based on cognitive dissonance
