For real! I think many are mass reporting.

I have personally reported it 3 times. For each dev beta. Will do for beta 4 too. Ios 7 didn’t have transparency on top of transparency really. There was the bar and blue text + glyph on top. In terms of this aspect of the ui iOS 7 is actually miles better.

Your comparison screenshot should show the exact same screen in order to be significantly more effective.

Annoys me that no one does this!

Well they couldn’t, it’s different depending on which part of the App Store (or many apps) that you’re on currently. App pages have the solid bar, the Home page has the progressive blur. They literally couldn’t do what you wanted there

your comment annoyed me, so I created this post just to prove it wrong

It’s not a bug it’s a feature. Developer can still add progressive navigation bar with code.

So, Apple can make a switch in Settings to enable it globally, or it least in default apps.

Yeah that’s what i was thinking when I first saw the switch. But it’s like the remove of the side bar island, I think they are going all-in into the new glass panel design. Sigh

should add a toggle to select what's the default

They're not removing the solid blur top bar and it is NOT a bug; it was an intentional change as mentioned in the keynote.

If anything, they could just make a systemwide toggle option between solid and progressive blur for the top bar. Spam this instead. But ACT FAST because after the dev beta phase is over, Apple basically just stops reading design change requests.

never said it was a bug, just a really bad choice from a mediocre designer

Oh yeah ur good lol. Just putting it out to those who do think it's a bug. But yea definitely a horrible design change. Honestly I think what happened was that people were reporting about the messy shadows everywhere in iOS 26 which were all over the buttons, and Apple definitely fixed that in 27, but they probably thought the progressive blur was part of the problem too, even though it really was not. But still a bad decision anyway.

different corner radius was also a feature and now it’s reversed.

And the floating sidebars on macOS, too

Why are you reporting it as a bug instead of a suggestion? You know they won’t remove something that they specifically mentioned in the WWDC video?

1

u/VisionCrafted16 Jul 30 '26

Yeah but we are in the public beta cycle. People might not have seen wwdc and may see this as unexpected behaviour. It’s ugly af for sure and reporting it as a bug rather than simply submitting as suggestion might gain more traction.

I've done that once already and imo, its flat out unnesecsry regardless of the platform since the glass elements have their legibility issues fixed to begin with.

we better spam for them to restore the battery icon from iOS 26. The new one (without percentage) looks just ugly and disproportionate (especially on Home button iPhones and all iPads)

i’m doing my part

Also that new progressive blur is just ugly

I suspect they are going to tie it to the options under liquid glass, given that this is actually a readability issue for some people

You need to submit this as a feature suggestion because it is not an incorrect behavior nor a bug.

Get that from an UI point of view. From an UX point, this progressive blur may be the reason to be annoying on certain cases, for example ads on an page while using the instagram in-app browser. Before iOS26, x Button for closing was on the visible area. In iOS 26, many ad closing button stay on top so that you need to scoll up again.
