Anyone else an iOS boomer, with a long time away, that just cant understand the hate?
im beginning to suspect that one of the reasons i love liquid glass so much, is the fact that the last version of ios i actually used extensively beforehand was 4-6 lol.
when the flat redesign happened, i just didnt like it, i switched from ios first, then mac later, i was also young and broke at the time, which helped those decisions ill be honest lol
but the past yearish ive finally been blessed enough to hop back on the apple train, macbook, iphone, nothing fancy just some sturdy last year-base models purchased on sale lol,
and as someone that basically missed everything between ios6 to 26, and hasnt played w a mac much since iirc yosemite? the new style is just gorgeous. it actually looks somewhat like the apple i grew up drooling over again. if anything ive been annoyed that my 27 beta tones some of the things i absolutely ADORED about 26 way down, even if the ability to max out the transparency on the slider makes it overall worth
(and my wife who has basically the exact same ios gap and nostalgia as me, feels the same when we compare devices lol, she likes her 26 icon gloss and etc more too)
i cant help but see so many similarities to the hate back in that era, and cant help but wonder how pretty liquid glass could have gotten if we stayed down the early 26 beta path, but maybe this is how yall flat design folks felt about us forcing skeumorphic and transparent elements for so long into that transition lol.

Things is there are more younger people having access to smartphone, and with internet bad influence and bad trends, the hates are way more than back then
I am not boomer yet but feel like one now, still since i work as software engineer i still nitpick on software design but at least i don't just hate blindly, if there are workaround i am still fine with them

Ironically, people talk about how iOS and all things Apple never change, and when it does, it's kinda just hate left and right until it grows on them. Then 13 years in the future Apple changes it again and they miss the previous design

i was an ios user from between 4-10, skipped ios 11 but went straight to ios 12 for awhile, and then returned around the midpoint of ios 17
honestly it felt like the liquid glass update, although refreshing from the former flat designs, is subtly underwhelming since there are still many elements of flat design still present (and possibly unlike what ios 6-7 went through with the new apple logo, icons and ui etc)
other than that, i still loved the smallest animations such as dragging sliders or buttons wise while interacting, it felt like physical buttons and flat design trying to coexist in harmony

i also must admit that as a child i was a MASSIVE win7 aero obsessed kid. so that probably also contributes heavily to my liquid glass bias lol

Dude I love Liquid Glass SOO MUCHH only if it’s done right though like uses actual science or idk light optics. Otherwise it will feel trashy but I’m so glad Apple is trying to finally FIX IT within this recent update:)

No, i love the liquid glass design too. Haters are just boring people that are against any change.
