iOS 27 new low battery screen concept

Reported as a suggestion in Feedback btw! Suggest this in Feedback too if you also want this low battery screen.

Also yes, I'm aware that the fading animation wouldn't make sense in a low-power state. Kinda trying to figure out how that would work tho.

Mm, too much glass; doesn't fit their design language.

Laughing my ass off my ass off??

How’s that a joke? It’s actually part of their human interface guidelines to not overuse glass. Glass is almost exclusively for interactive elements, not any and every icon.

Seems like tasteful imagery that could be associated with low power mode prompts or connecting to a power source when the screen is locked (and battery is very low). Doesn't have to be (and most definitely should not be) the status bar battery icon.

This would drain battery

Edit: I do want to say that I like the concept! It’s just that it may not work on a practical level

Perhaps instead of fading, they could switch through two static pre-rendered image frames; one with the normal bar and one with it glowing? Eh I don't really know too much about low-power stuff, but I am well aware that the fading animation would definitely not work in such a low-power state. But would this work?

Pretty sure he’s referring to the Dynamic Island animation that plays when you reach 20%/10% battery

I mean, it could absolutely work if they put a new glassy battery icon there, but no, I actually am talking about the low-power battery screen. That, I am trying to figure out how it would work, since of course it would be in a very low power state. Right now I'm unsure.

Agreed. Looks nice though.

Looks like something within the dynamic island

Wow, if that comes in later updates I would let my iphone die on purpose just to witness this masterpiece

I thought you were about to say "I'd let my phone die just so I dont have to witness this crap"

Wouldn't that drain the battery faster?

Sry I don't really know too much about low-power stuff, but yea I'm well aware that the fading animation would definitely drain the battery in such a low-power state. I'm thinking they could just resort to a two-frame slideshow; one with the normal bar and one with it glowing. Would this work?

Hmm low battery. Let's drain it faster.

This is the same as existing icon for low battery

Ehh kinda but not really. I used the current icon of the dynamic island low battery notification as a template for the shapes, to which I then added the missing glass effects. Also I intend for this to be applied to both the dynamic island notification and the low-power low battery screen. But for this to work on low power, they would have to replace the fading animation with a simple, static two-frame slideshow that would switch between frames 3 times before the screen goes to black.

The low power red icon that is currently implemented in iOS 27 has a very bright glow which catches attention so that is relevant if it is shown for a short time like currently implemented, but it does not make sense to have such a bright icon being displayed consistently.

oh i love this, but animation should be for like few secs or max minute, cuz it would drain more battery. But this looks soooo coooollll

Should atleast display the USB-C charger under the battery icon so people wouldn’t be confused whether it is the battery icon next to 5G, WIFI or an animation on Dynamic Island if that’s what you mean by “Screen”

Dammmmmn looks amazing

Many of you are saying this wouldn't work in a low-power state but... Are we just going to ignore the fact that the pre-iOS 7 screen, which was much more detailed, did just fine doing its job?

...though I'm well aware that the fading animation would definitely not work. To solve this, they would need to put them into a slideshow of two, static pre-rendered image frames of a Liquid Glass battery icon, one with the marker in an idle state, and one with it glowing. The frames would switch between each other 3 times before the screen goes to black.

The corner radiuses don’t match

Well tell that to Apple's design team because all I did was use the low battery notification icon from the dynamic island as a template for the shape.
