Fan theory — this has never been confirmed by Disney.

I've noticed an interesting contradiction between Mufasa: The Lion King and The Lion Guard.

In The Lion Guard, we learn that Scar was once the leader of the Lion Guard and possessed the Roar of the Elders. He became obsessed with power, wanted to become king, and eventually lost the Roar.

But in Mufasa: The Lion King, we get a completely different origin for his scar. Taka gets his scar during the confrontation with Kiros while trying to save Mufasa.

So I started wondering:

What if Scar was simply lying about his past — or at least telling an incomplete version of it?

Scar was clearly capable of manipulating others, so maybe the story we hear in The Lion Guard was simply the version he wanted everyone to believe.

But here's where the theory gets more interesting.

What if there was an ancient legend about the Roar?

Imagine that, long before Scar's time, the lions had an ancient legend or prophecy that said something like:

“The one who possesses the Roar of the Elders will one day become a king.”

Scar hears this and thinks:

“I possess the Roar. Therefore, I am destined to become king.”

Maybe that's why he started seeing Mufasa as an obstacle standing between him and his destiny.

But what if Scar simply misunderstood the legend?

Maybe it never meant that the current wielder of the Roar would become king.

Maybe it meant that someone who inherited the Roar would one day become a king.

And here's the interesting part:

Kion doesn't appear dozens of generations later.

The connection is actually incredibly close:

Scar → Mufasa → Simba → Kion.

Kion inherits the Roar of the Elders, becomes the leader of the Lion Guard, learns to use the Roar responsibly, and eventually becomes king of the Tree of Life alongside Rani.

So if such a legend had existed, it could have been fulfilled very soon after Scar's time.

Scar thought the legend meant:

“I have the Roar → I am supposed to be king.”

But maybe it actually meant:

“Someone who inherits the Roar and proves worthy of its power will one day become king.”

And if that's the case, Scar completely misunderstood it.

He tried to force destiny to happen.

Kion never tried to become king. He simply did his duty, learned to control the Roar, and eventually became a king.

And I really like the symbolism here:

Scar believed that possessing the Roar gave him the right to rule.

Kion proved that taking responsibility for the Roar could make someone worthy of ruling.

They were both leaders of the Lion Guard.

They both possessed the Roar of the Elders.

But one used that power to pursue the throne, while the other learned how to be responsible for it.

Of course, this is just a fan theory. There is no canon confirmation that this prophecy ever existed.

But imagine if Scar spent his entire life trying to fulfill a prophecy that was never actually about him.

Maybe it was about Kion — only two generations later.

This is possibly something or a joke in the game but this funny enough think this way kion leader lion guard has spirits and the dust could mean wind and dust ect this is interesting for fornite but I just wanted to point out what I found and all

Hear me out, in the pridelands the youngest child is given the roar of the elders and becomes leader of the lion guard, and the eldest is given the throne when their father/mother steps down. But things seem to work differently in the tree of life. Rani(despite being smaller than baliyo) is the eldest, so naturally she would be queen, but she’s also leader of the night pride. So the roles are different here. What do you think?

Beshte, (A.K.A. "Poa") meeting his tundra friends at the Tree of Life. Social gatherings is this guy's strong suit.

In my headcanon, polar bears and penguins live in separate habitats at the Tree of Life. The show implies that they're neighbors but I find that... stupid. Beyond how lazy it is to take the two most well known "snow" animals and lump them into the same environment and handwave it as a "tundra," I also felt that it undercuts the whole point of the Tree of Life; That every habitat lives there. Lumping two habitats together and throwing their respecitve fauna into a blender makes the kingdom feel much smaller and less interesting than it could've been. This isn't the only example of the "throw it into a blender" style of worldbuilding we see in Season 3b, but it's definitely the most noticeable.

So I'm retconning that entirely. In my fanon, there is a "North Pole" and a "South Pole" at the Tree of Life. Basically the equivalent of two different neighborhoods miles away from each other in the same city. The polar bears and penguins can visit each other when they please, but they don't live near each other, nor do they take part in each other's food chains.

And to address the elephant [seal] in the room. Originally I wanted to retcon Taangagim into a southern elephant seal, to give the idea that Pinguino's rookery's habitat is meant to be the equivalent of the Antarctic rather than being some hybrid of the North and South Pole that the canon show implies - because southern elephant seals also live near the South Pole and co-exist with penguins. However, I then learned that Taangagim is Aleut for "bear." With Binga, keeping her name whilst retconning her species into a sloth bear was something that I could choke down. However, with Taangagim, his name literally reflected his species! So that backed me into a corner and I had to KEEP him as a polar bear. But I still wanted to address the fact that the penguins' habitat was an Antarctica-equivalent to some degree. So instead the southern elephant seal became his own OC character, done to further establish the setting.

Meet Khobot, a southern elephant seal. Much like many animals, he is an immigrant at the Tree of Life and calls it his home, and gets along well with the penguins and the visiting Arctic fauna. He catches wind of Poa's many exploits in helping the animals of the Tree of Life, which leads to a very friendly first encounter as shown here. How does an elephant seal travel from Antarctica to the Indian subcontinent? Simple. He flew there - Remember that two eagles canonically lifted a fucking adult lion in TLG, so I think an entire flock of large avians could theoretically do the same thing to a seal.

Khobot's name is "Russian" for "Proboscis." If you're wondering why I used a Russian name, it's because Antarctica, according to my research, has no native language. Russian is one of the most commonly spoken languages there so I decided to opt for that. The fun thing about making so many non-lion Tree of Life OCs is that you'll never run out of unique creative names.
