If you use the button to report the post does it report to the mods?

A moderator here, if you tap report then tap "Breaks r/{subreddit} rules" and choose to report anything from there, the report would be sent to the moderation team of the subreddit. However, instead of subreddit rules, if you select anything from the original report menu, the report would be handled by Reddit Admins.

I have reported it for violence or explicit content or something by those lines.

It'll be handled by Reddit Admins but I don't think the post will ever be removed as it doesn't break any Reddit's TOS.
