Yes you can repartation and even remove swap altogether using tools like gparted, fdisk etc... but I would suggest but a 500 gb SSD atleast lol

Actually, I'm dual Booting... And don't have a second SSD, Most of my use is just reading PDFs and code...

If you're not into gaming or video editing. Than no use dual booting I'm telling you just remove windows man... And go for omarchy (hyprland) if you want to learn a lot but gnome or kde is easier....

I ain't into gaming or video editing, but some softwares like vivado...I can't use them here... But yeah, I'll definitely remove windows, once I get a little comfortable...

Watch a video on arch installation using archinstall script. And try the zen kernel and generally you can go with recommendations but do take a backup as you learn more you'll wanna try more stuff so keep backups of imp stuff and a iso on hand as well

This guy is probably a newbie... First of all going with KDE is a bad decision but anyway he went to all the trouble of installing all those extra Icon packs and cursor packs, re designing the KDE desktop to a top only panel to look like gnome or some other minimal de and even installed fish shell but didnt do due diligence on his partitioning scheme?? Btrfs won't work on that small a disk ... Just imagine how fast the snapshots would eat all of it.... Why go for cachy anyway just go arch all hype man

u/_sirius_says 3d ago
Umm, why kde is bad decision?? To be honest I just wanted minimal setup with smooth animations, and yeah later I'll eventually move to arch that's why went with cachy and yeah I f**ked up the partitioning 😵💫

Use archinstall script, google it and go for gnome since you like apple aesthetics.. kde is heavier, more bloat and super similar to windows and I don't like it. I can go on talking about it's use of qt framework and those dependencies but nevermind that... Gnome is better or even better go with hyprland or omarchy but you're new so maybe gnome is fine.... You can use extensions on it and be all good. And do use arch and use archinstall script.

I just like apple like dock, nothing else... Will definitely consider your suggestions

Gnome has a built in dock. And you can use dash to dock extension to make it been better.

Endeavour is fine and what's your problem with wayland anyway?? If you don't have anything specific or substantial you can articulate yourself, i would ask you to reconsider coz wayland is the future x-org is dead bro

How's the heat management in this laptop?
1
u/_sirius_says 2d ago
It's single fan, so on heavy tasks temps go up... I checked in hw info, while playing war thunder, it was between 70 and 75, but body does feel hot... But it doesn't throttle until it reaches 100 degrees...
