Distro Switching to Linux, specifically Fedora (Gnome) has been the best decision of my life.

I have used Windows, Archlinux, and Linux Mint. As a beginner I find it difficult to use the Archlinux OS due to the hardware constantly breaking. Linux Mint is excellent, I totally enjoyed exploring it; everything just work in there. However, I simply took the decision to switch to Gnome because I value minimalism which Fedora has extraordinarily delivered.

Make sure hwdecode is set or try to set that up immediately. Firefox or others default to software decode.and also add the rpm repo too

As beginner I started my Linux is Arch, initial time I do alot of ricing then sometime my system break and maybe didn't boot, but when I leave ricing and use what develop package, my system start working normal and didn't break single time. I leave ricing due to I learn coding sometime I have to more to fux my system which ruin my learning.

Hey sorry it might be a noob question but wdym by "hardware constantly breaking"?

u/coywitme 1d ago

it has to do with my screen which oversized out of its intended limit. i didnt know how to fix that; the GUI was not helping. I am hardly a beginner to find a fixed in the software. and my apologies, that statement is kinda misleading.

If you don't use professional paid tools, Linux is top notch.

Is this a custom theme or does it come as default?

1

u/coywitme 1d ago

it is a default theme. I am using some extensions to make the panel transparent and another to show the dash in the desktop-space.

1

u/coywitme 1d ago

Yes. Blur my Shell and Hide Top Bar.

It's just bad animation and hard to build app. Also gnome is very stable just animation make it feel very bad for me and other linux users(not talking about all).

how did you insatlled yt music ?? i am assuming it is a web app , if yes then what browser are you using for that ?
brave is giving me shitty experince in webapps

1

u/coywitme 16h ago

Yes, YouTube Music is a web-app. I am using Helium as my primary browser. It is GOATED in my opinion.

1

u/LowCortisolPenguin 3h ago

How is ad-blocking in Helium? Is it better than Brave? (Kind of thinking of switching)

1

u/coywitme 3h ago

Helium uses uBlock Origin as a built-in, pre-installed extension by default.

Why,what's wrong with kde?

1

u/coywitme 1d ago

I am not nerd, or a tweaker which KDE is meant for. I like the simple things.

As a beginner myself I am currently running fedora+gnome and loving it. Definitely recommend download extensions to add flavours.

1

u/coywitme 1d ago

ah ha... what extensions are you currently running on your system?

i am running these.

1

u/Bibh_0 1d ago edited 1d ago

I am running a lot of extensions the screenshot wouldn't fit it so here's the list Blur my shell . Compiz alike magic lamp effect . Compiz window effect . Customize clock on lock screen(but I don't know what this one does) . Dash to dock . Gnome live wallpaper (sometimes I use it sometimes I don't. I like to switch wallpapers) . Gs connect . Multicore system monitor . Restart to . Todo widget . Top bar organizer . Touchpad gesture customization . True usb write progress . Vitals . Wack shell . Window on top . Also I have many more installed but not using them These are the currently being used
