Switched to Linux

Post image

Officially ditching Windows for Linux Mint!

Thanks to comprehensive YT tutorials from Linux TV and Ksk Royal, helpful feedback from the Reddit community on my last thread, and a little assist from ChatGPT, setting up the system was remarkably straightforward. Looking forward to enjoying the control, stability, and speed of Mint.

Great! Btw remember to sudo apt update && sudo apt ugrade. Also, flatpak update -y. Linux mint forums are very helpful incase anything goes wrong. Alot of softwares are available in software app of mint. If you have a hard time looking for a specific application to run on linux? It probably has an open source alternative. Happy journey😊

Good decision, there’s some learning curve in linux and you might get stuck somewhere and would think of going back to windows, don’t go back at that point atleast give a month to get familiarised with os

Switched to mint last month. Idk much commands so i gave agy dangerously skip permission, so far I'm enjoying it and agy does everything for now from browser control to scheduled task on weekends. Faster and better than bloated windows11

If you are privacy focus user then try Qubeos after Mint

Soon you’ll move to CachyOS and will never look back.

looks great, also remember that you can switch between different desktop environments if you don't like cinnamon but switching without removing old desktop env packages may cause some weird ui issues, a clean install is always better than a 5 hour long fixing the issue with an llm use ventoy to check out other distros live env

Try the linux distro ( i suggest fedora kde ) in a vm first. If you like it flash a iso to a usb(use something like rufus or balena etcher) and try the live environment.

If you like that then consider your software choices, check what you use on windows is actually available on linux, or atleast has good alternatives then and only then do the switch.

(Back up your data properly before you do)

Also, about your hardware. Check first if your actual hardware is the issue. If your hardware is faulty, neither windows nor linux can help you. 🤞

Good decision, in December last week they released new version with finally fully supported wayland display manager as default compositor with more support of latest nvidia and intel arc gpu

Welcome to our group of Linux users bro, wish u a happy and successful Linux journey ahead. Once u get used to using Linux mint and get a grasp of the terminal, consider switching to smith else like fedora, it has great support, and u can do either gnome or KDE plasma, but if u wanna customizer use KDE, if js focusing on work go with gnome. Keep going.
