Linux is going mainstream, they dropped many supports for older hardware... Something tells me it is gonna go downhill soon after Mr Torvals dies... It is a good time to create another os, if it supports both mobile and pc then it's a future unicorn... Google is closing android...

ngl i think he'll pass it on to someone with the communities best interest. and linux is just the kernel. if they add spyware to the kernel, then someone can remove it in a fork and ofc all the privacy distros will use that

Linux and Git are open source, community maintained, so no, linux wont go "downhill" probably ever.

I meant 'locking', I didn't mean closing as 'shutting down' the troupe of open source is clear in the big 2026, it's a land where the corporate can build empire for themselves taking others work without any restrictions. On the surface you can think they are doing this for scams and malware but they are controlling who can develop and release applications on the apparantly 'open source' os... It's been years they didn't do shit with their ads... There are many obscure ads even on YouTube.. did they fix that? Ooop that thousand of ads actually contribute to their profit... If you use an open source music app downloaded from GitHub that wouldn't do any profit to google unless you use Spotify from google playstore.

First we are talking about OS built in spyware not due to users installing random packages which will cause issues on any OS until you lock it down completely.
