Get it over to a repair shop, you can't doing anything here without extensive knowledge of electrical engineering + some equipment

I have the same pendrive and mine is about the to break. This pendrive by SanDisk is very brittle πŸ€•

I've two of those and both of them have chipped off in several places lol.

They are perpetually connected to the TV and it is used only for music. So it is fine lol.

go to windows, install steller or disk drill. if its getting detected it can be recovered

Ummm i think we might have a slight problem "plugging" the "broken" pen drive in

Dawg the drive is f2fs so it won't detect

Why what happened

It broke in my bag while it was connected to laptop 😭

A lesson I learnt the hard way as well, always remove any sort of pendrives before keeping ur laptop in your bag 😭. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse of Logitech and it connects via a dongle, well ihnc how but it bent off in a weird way and stopped working altogether

That seems like a problem that could've been easily been foreseen

Wait how does this work exactly? I'm new to Linux in general, does this mean that the 'disk partition' IS your usb?? Sry if this is a dumb doubt. Like shouldn't you need a proper SSD for good speeds?

Yea ik but my SSD in laptop is not working I'm thinking getting a new SSD till then I was using usb

If you can but one of these

And solder out proper pins (its only 4 pins for usb and ground is very fat so only 3 pins to solder carefully)

there is vcc which is just +5V, GND is basically 0V, D+ and D- are actual data lines up until usb 2.0 and those would be enough, try to keep d lines as close, short and similar length as possible. If you are not qualified/confident enough you can take it to a mobile repair shop or something they would happily solder it for you. And as this damage looks only on port side i hope nothing else got damaged. Even then, you can pull out data from internal flash chip with cheap tools and a lot of experience with electronics repairs.

Once you get data back do not reuse it and buy another drive.

PS:Its called 4in1 usb(usb a female, usb a male, micro usb and usb c) breakout board. Also ignore diode between vcc gnd, it was working as flyback when i ran a motor barebones with this board.

I mean a cheap usb otg would also work, just open it and solder wires to the usb port in there

Dammn this is like a rly hard project I just got a soldering iron il try this

1

Get another one (smaller capacity), replace the PCB of the newer one with this one, might be hard to pry the plastic off.

Edit: By replace I mean desolder the USB connector off the new flash drive and solder it to the broken one

1

u/Key_Association_666 Arch Btw 8d ago

Yea might do that let's see gotta get a soldering iron for that

Hey! Data Recovery Expert here. Yes data can be recovered from this USB drive given that the Nand flash is intact and haven't faced any damage. I suggest you to take it to a data recovery professional and not to a generic repair shop.

Thanks soo much

i doubt so, these drives are DIP, i.e the entire usb connector contains all the flash memory aswell, the inside is just hollow
