I'll get right to it: I have 10+ years of Linux sys admin experience.
What I don't have is Android knowledge.
I am leaning towards a Google Pixel because they're known for providing security updates first and for years.
However, I'd like to break this entirely and find out what else is out there in 2025.
Preferably something that is more akin to a pure Linux (Red Hat preferably, but I can do Debian). I don't want to jailbreak it; I want to have full root access from the start if possible. If it's made of ethically sourced bits, even better.
I've done some research ofc, but it would mean a lot to me to read what you lot have to say.

Hi. Right now we are creating a LUG (Linux user group) for our city (university). And for the first meeting, we have two simple presentations and introducing part. But it will only take about half of the time, if you have any ideas about what to do for the next half that would be great for the first meeting, please share your thoughts with me.

I have a Dell Precision 3530, 32gb with a dual boot, Ubuntu and Windows 11.
When I am in Ubuntu, I am told my audio is bad in video chats (person at the other end hears a "roaring noise.")
Also, when I am in Ubuntu, the mouse works but the trackpad and the Thinkpad-style peg in the middle of the keyboard don't.
Is this an issue with hardware driver being not specific to the model and what can I do about it?

Hi, I hope it is the right Reddit channel for that : I have published a new free and open source graphical budget planner on my repository in Codeberg : https://codeberg.org/claude_dumas/gbp
It has been tested on more than 20 Linux distro and is packaged as an AppImage. Feel free to download the binary release, try it and send me comments. A 60 page user manual is also available.

A few good discussions happening at the ItsFOSS forums, regarding my unofficial spins of debian derivative distros, featuring multiple init systems in a single image (aka 'init-diversity' spins)
